Re: Do throat exercises cure sleep apnea?

http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/19234106 The tl;dr is that the exercises had a pretty substantial effect on sleep quality, compared to a placebo-exercise group. They used a ton of different exercises (for a 30 min/day regimen), taken from speech- and swallowing therapy techniques, without trying...

Re: Gas in stomache

Had a huge problem with this myself, to the point of waking up after a few hours so uncomfortable that I couldn't continue to use the mask the rest of the night. This was enough for my doc to prescribe a bi-level machine (pressure changes depending on whether I'm breathing in or out), and that great...

Re: Unpredictable mask leaks

It could be time to change the mask cushion. How long have you had it? Ah, good thought. I've had it about five months. It still looks in good shape, but perhaps one can't tell by looking? I actually have a spare cushion that I haven't used yet, I could try swapping it out and see if it does the tr...

Unpredictable mask leaks

Hi everyone, I'm another one having problems with mask leaks. I use a full face mask, size medium (which mulitple technicians have told me looks like the perfect size for me), with mask liners, BPAP, quite low pressure. After months of aggravation solving one stupid problem after another, I finally ...

Re: Minor breakthrough!

Are you sleeping pretty well with few wakeups? Hard to say. I sleep well for that first stint of the night, then I wake up and have a terrible time going to sleep again with the mask on. This is the current challenge I'm up against, that second go-round with the damn thing in the middle of the night.

Makes sense. At any rate I'm pretty chuffed about my .7!

Minor breakthrough!

I'm back to using BPAP nightly -- I thought I was only using it for about an hour and a half, but the machine says I used it for three hours! My AHI was down at .7 (as well as an apparent complete loss of my ability to read a clock! ) I'm curious, though, my doc said my diagnosis was "mild to modera...

Re: Oh man I can't stand this thing!!!

You won't want to hear this, but the "trying on and off" is part of your problem. The "on and off" was because of unsolved problems, like swallowing air which led to incredible discomfort, waiting way too long for the supply company to get me a different mask or the new machine I'd been prescribed,...

Re: Oh man I can't stand this thing!!!

Thanks everyone for your input. This whole "it gets worse before it gets better" thing is just really hard to work through. Especially when you're already running on fumes. Reading other posts and replies to those posts really helps too.

Weird, my drop-down list only shows one ResMed model, and that's the S8.

On and off for about a month, first with the CPAP and now with the BPAP (or I guess it's a VPAP?)

Finally figured out how to do that. My machine wasn't listed, so I entered it in the comment box. I'll post this and see if it appears.

Oh man I can't stand this thing!!!

I've been trying to be upbeat about this, but I'm ready to crack. Every time I solve a problem, I hit a new problem. My new issue is just general annoyance, itching and tickling and little places where the seal feels lumpy. I find it difficult or impossible to fall asleep, especially after a first s...

Re: Intro and mask issues

Thanks! Wow, it makes a big difference just knowing that other people have this problem. Are any old baby wipes okay? Tips on what to avoid?
