Re: Dry mouth

I am anew CPAP user (14 days) and had severe drymouth, caused by mouth breathing. I greatly reduced the problem by using a nasal spray to clear the nasal passage. So far so good. Sure am glad I stumbled onto this site, I am amazed by the total lack of info given by my Doctor and my DME, thanks for ...

2-Month Check Up

I went in on Tuesday for my 2-month review. I already knew that my numbers were good and getting better from my daily use of Sleepyhead. What I wasn't prepared for was the confetti-throwing, brass-band huzzah-ing that I got from the nurse-practitioner, respiratory therapist, and DME tech. This is my ...

I Have A %$#@ Cold

I have a cold, with attendant nasal congestion and cough. How does one handle CPAPing with the need to blow one's nose every few minutes, and the general runniness. The combination of a mask over my nose and congestion isn't an appetizing one. How do you folks cope?

Re: Public Snoring

in the past, I have passed up opportunities to go on trips with groups because of mandatory room-sharing. Ditto any long plane flights during which I'd have to sleep for at least part of the flight. I don't want to subject anyone to the snoring. Now with the CPAP machine I can at least do the room-s...

Re: Torn Between Two (Sizes of) Mask

I see that cpap.com no longer carries the Hozer, although it has a similar system. I watched the video. Don't you always feel as if your mask is being pulled upwards? You say that you like it, so I guess it doesn't feel this way, but it looks as though it should. Maybe with a little more slack in th...

Re: Torn Between Two (Sizes of) Mask

I looked at the Nano, and it looks like it might be a good fit, except for one kind of peripheral thing. I have discovered that the over-the-head hose system is almost necessary for me. When the hose just sticks out from the front, I end up batting it this way and that, and it turns out that a good ...

Re: Torn Between Two (Sizes of) Mask

Actually, I did try a padacheek liner with the larger mask. I had to enlarge the hole in the liner just a smidge to get it to fit comfortably, and every time I inhaled (ok, this is going to sound weird) the liner felt cold all around the perimeter of the mask, as though cold air were coming through ...

Torn Between Two (Sizes of) Mask

I get good numbers with the Wisp mask. I have used the Small and the Medium, and if I could just get something between the two, I'd be set for life. The medium is just too big on my face. It's hard to sleep on my side or stomach without having megaleaks, and it comes up too high on the bridge of my ...

Re: I can't wait.....

Welcome Rich! I'm a relative newbie; I have had my machine since Nov. 13, and have been using it 8 hours a night every night except one. (Tummy problems; wanted to be able to make a quick exit from the bed if need be.) I'm still waiting for the "feel great all day!" to happen, but I have a couple of...

Test Out Different Sizes!

When I had my second sleep study done, the one where they fitted me with a CPAP machine (I've seen them called "titration studies," but I've only encountered that term here, not in my doctor's office), they gave me a Wisp mask. The tech put a S/M on me, and I felt like it was pinching my nose shut, ...

With so little information it's impossible to even guess with any degree of accuracy, but my first thought was depression. But who knows?

Re: Where to put cpap machine?

My nightstand is too small to accommodate a tissue box, a photo of my family, a candlestick, a small table lamp, my iPad, my cell phone, AND my S9, so it's on the floor next to the bed. It seems to work fine. I haven't had any issues with the length of the hose.

Re: Adventures In Masks

Deerslayer, thanks for the links. I watched one about the Resmed nasal pillows ('for her") and refit my headgear and tried the medium pillows instead of small, et voilá! An easy seal, good air volume, no feeling of suffocation... I slept with the pillows last night, and had lots more CAs than I have...

Re: Adventures In Masks

Deerslayer, can you give me some advice about fitting the pillows? I have been messing around between the small and x-small. With the small, I get leaks (although one night I managed to get it seated right), and last night I tried the x-small and finally ripped it off in annoyance because it whistle...

Re: Catching up?

I go to bed every night at about 10:30 and get up at about 6:30 or 7:00, every day, weekends included. I use the machine all night, every night. I fall asleep easily, and normally wake up (awake enought to remember being awake) between 2:00 and 3:00 AM. Sometimes I can go back to sleep almost immedi...
