Re: CPAP machine with LCD

Hi RogerSC, thank you for your input! It seems like the LCD would not be as useful for you. However, I'm assuming you have a ResMed? Our project requires us to modify the Respronics System One REMstar which currently shows almost no data on the screen. So do you think that having any data to be show...

Re: CPAP machine with LCD

Hi zoocrewphoto, My biggest question is whether you can fit info like that on a small screen on the machine. The full night barely fits on my screen at regular size. If I need to zoom in, I have to enlarge it. How will that work on a small lcd screen? You're definitely right about this. We're thinki...

Re: CPAP machine with built-in filtration

I want to see the events, how they are spread out (or clustered), how long they are, and what type they are. Most people will check for leak as that can throw off all the data and make therapy ineffective. My leak is almost always zero because anything that blows on me or hisses will wake me up. I ...

Re: CPAP machine with LCD

Hi zoocrewphoto, Honestly, no. I found this forum my first day on cpap, and I found out right away that I could download free software and see my own data. THAT helped me see how my machine was working for me and made it more useful to me. If the data have been provided on the LCD since the first da...

Re: CPAP machine with built-in filtration

That sounds really good. Will the screen be large enough to show graphs? My graphs on the computer screen do take up the width of my screen for the night. We're thinking of either an LCD that slide out or even a projector. Or even another way of analyzing/displaying the data more efficiently so tha...

Re: CPAP machine with LCD

Hi hueyville Thank you for your inputs regarding insurance companies. What we're trying to figure out is if having the LCD will increase the compliance for users. We're also wondering which machine do you use that currently provide the data through your Android or an i-phone? Hi Julie, The LCD would...

Re: CPAP machine with built-in filtration

Hi zoocrewphoto, Have you had a chance to actually look at the machine you are planning to improve? And have you looked at the competition? So, if you really want to be successful, you need to think like a cpap user. You need to use the machine, see what it is like, and see what would be useful. And...

Re: CPAP machine with built-in filtration

Hi zoocrewphoto, We understand that Resmed S9 only shows a few numbers of the previous night's data. We imagined that in addition to those numbers, our LCD will plot a graph of your previous nights sleep, where events occurred as well as flagging any events above a limit previously set with your doc...

Re: CPAP machine with LCD

Hi jdr999, Honestly? No. I don't even look at the display on my S9 -- I only look at the full night's data in sleepyhead. What if the LCD will show a graph of your previous nights sleep? Not just showing numbers like your AHI score? What if the graph also flags any events that you want to monitor? ...

Re: CPAP machine with built-in filtration

THANK YOU everyone for all your helpful replies!! Due to your replies, we decided to change the directions of our design now. Instead, we're going to incorporate a LCD screen into the CPAP machine that would allow you to view your previous night's sleep at a glance. And maybe even wirelessly uploadi...

CPAP machine with LCD

Hi everyone, Just want to get some of your opinion on this. Our fourth year biomedical engineering design project at University of Toronto involves improving on CPAP machines (more specifically the Philips System One REMstar Auto ) and this is one of the idea we brainstormed based on your replies. W...

Re: CPAP machine with data features

Rustsmith, Thank you for the idea about sleep vs awake. We'll definitely look into this. Thank you hegel, So if I can try to unmix my messages, I'll say that I would appreciate a well designed screen built into a cpap unit that displayed the same info that I now get from my Encore download. But sinc...

Re: CPAP machine with built-in filtration

Hi Todzo, Currently the usability numbers for CPAP (the industry uses oppressive terms such as compliance or adherence) are so low (I have seen a study as low as 17% still able to use CPAP for more than 4 hours a night at the one year mark) that there is much room for improvement. Diligent monitorin...
