Re: Malware download from apneaboard.com

This sounds implausible and certainly wasn't my experience. If you had a problem at ApneaBoard why don't you tell them so they can investigate instead of bad mouthing them here?

Re: The Journey from CPAP to APAP to Auto BiPAP to Auto ASV

My AHI was 62, being 50/50 OSA and CSA. Because the ASV machines are so expensive (and insurance only covers a small amount here) I was initially tried on a S9 Autoset. That treated the OSA nicely, but did nothing for the centrals. Next step was a Philips Bipap ASV. That cured the centrals and obstr...

Re: Just had my first follow-up, please help

Re the leaks - many people try a range of masks before they find one which is comfortable and doesn't leak. I'd be inclined to try the chin strap then if that doesn't work try a different mask. If you're a mouth breather you might find a full face mask better. But everybody is different so there's n...

Re: Just had my first follow-up, please help

Hi digitalepiphany I think you need to get the leaks under control before going any further. If the mask is consistently leaking at more than 24 L/min the machine can't compensate and there's a good chance the apnea results are not accurate. If you are still getting so many centrals once the leaks a...

Re: Adjusting psi on a resmed S9 auto set

- Press the setup button and the push dial simultaneously for 3 seconds. This will open the clinical menu. - Go to "settings" and scroll to the pressure you want to adjust. - Press the push dial, and the background colour will turn orange. - Now rotate the push dial to select the pressure you want, ...

Re: Choosing my first machine

As far as I know the Elite and Autoset are both data compatible. see http://www.s9morecomfort.com/s9morecomfort/new_en_gb/sp.html Resmed will do deals - check the various resellers for packages which include the humidifier, heated tube and mask. From the tone of your first post it sounds like you've...

Re: Choosing my first machine

G'day Winter - it sounds like you've adapted to CPAP really well - congratulations. Resmed v Philips Respironics: I think it's a bit of a Ford v Holden argument. Both are good machines and both are very popular. For what it's worth, Resmed is an Australian company (though now seems to be based overs...

Re: How long to get the machine?

I had one sleep study which showed pretty severe apnea (AHI = 62). They provided me with a machine there and then, with four week's hire and weekly consultations with a sleep therapist. The cost of the hire was deducted from the purchase price of the machine. As it turned out the four weeks stretche...

Re: setting time on PR System One

My understanding is that the PR machines have an internal clock set to UTC (or GMT, depending on where you went to school). The clock can only be set by a service technician (no doubt using arcane incantations). Seems like a silly system to me.

Re: aromatherapy - i did give it a try last night,

I gave eucalyptus oil a go last night. We often use it as an inhalant for stuffy noses and also as a powerful cleaning agent. I put a small quantity on a folded handkerchief and placed it just near the air inlet on my machine. The aroma coming down the hose was lovely, and I could feel my nasal pass...

Re: Big decrease in CPAP use and heart palpitaions...connected?

I was referred to a cardiologist because of persistent palpitations which turned out to be ventricular ectopics. The cardio was the one who referred me for the sleep test. Apparently there is a two-fold mechanism at work. First the low oxygen sats aren't good for the heart muscle. Second, when you h...

Re: Aussie Newbie

G'day Winter, welcome to the forum.

I thought my apnoea was bad with an AHI of 62, but yours is amazing!

I'm a cpap newbie myself but have already learned a lot from the forums. Hopefully you'll do likewise. If there are any particular questions, just let us know.

Paul in Perth

Re: Question about Software

Hi DayofLavos, welcome to the forum As a newbie myself I'm still learning the ropes, but I do agree with your assumption. If you're on treatment, and the treatment is working, you will get a greatly reduced number of apnoeas. The machine can't diagnose an apnoea until after you've stopped breathing ...

Re: Travelling with cpap to france

Also, to clarify a couple of comments about the 220V power in France, it consists of one wire at 220V and one that is near 0V. Most plugs in France use a plug that consists of two round pins. The statements about the thick flat blade plugs applies to Great Britain. Depending upon the hotel, you may...
