Hi Chapalauser, I'm looking to get an ASV machine. It doesn't look like OSCAR charts show CA events for ASV machine, does it? If yes, how do you know central apneas are treated? Thanks!

Re: Do I need an ASV machine?
Thanks everyone for the insights. Maybe I'll try to turn down PS to 1 or 2 to see how it goes. So my current machine is Auto BiPAP, which means EPAP and IPAP are auto-adjusted during the night, but PS is constant. Can I use an ASV machine as an Auto BiPAP with Auto PS? I read in the ASV manual that ...

Do I need an ASV machine?
Hi everyone, I was so happy I found this forum. Reading all the posts here has educated me about sleep apnea more than my sleep doctor. Anyway, last month I got 2 at-home sleep studies from 2 different hospitals (just to compare the results). Both results came back positive for severe sleep apnea (A...

Re: Wake up after 3 or 4 hours with CPAP and can't go back to sleep
Hi everyone, Thanks so much for your replies. Last night, I took 5mg melatonin and I got about 5 hours of non-stop sleep, then woke up and was able to fall back to sleep quickly. So that's a good sign. Though 5mg is a lot and it caused me drowsy and foggy during the next day. I ordered 300mcg slow-r...

Re: Wake up after 3 or 4 hours with CPAP and can't go back to sleep
Try Benadryl..they are OTC and they are cheap. Check with your doctor first. I have Benadryl at home, but I heard it sedates you and blocks deep sleep so you don't actually "sleep" I struggle with this too. My sleep was very broken up for years with untreated apnea, so I suspect it is going to take...

Wake up after 3 or 4 hours with CPAP and can't go back to sleep
Hi, I have been on CPAP (ResMed AirCurve BiPAP Auto) with nasal pillow mask for only a few weeks, and I can say I'm pretty comfortable sleeping with now. I have noticed over the last few nights that I tend to go to sleep fairly quickly (while it was a struggle when I started CPAP) but only stay asle...

Re: Insurance plan covers sleep study, please help
Call the Social Worker of the hospital you want to go to. They should have information that you need as well as applications for financial assistance. It is also possible to find the local Medical School Teaching hospital, and call their Social Worker for them to waive the cost of things. Might be ...

Re: Insurance plan covers sleep study, please help
You are in Texas; you have my condolences. I'm reading your posts in another 3-year-old topic . well, it isn't necessary to be specific for Texas state, if you have any advice/experience about buying BSBC insurance plan (HMO, PPO), please let me know. It's kinda hard for me when I moved here and kn...

Hello, So I just moved to Houston last month for college. I bought the health insurance plan called AIG through University of Houston which is about $500/semester.
