Re: Helping my 4 year old
He does get daily omega 3s, no red dye, but is not gluten free. But I agree and will likely investigate this piece more. I feel comfortable that he is not in need of OT at this point. I definitely need to neutralize the major effect the sleep issues are having on him. He definitely is affected by th...

Re: Helping my 4 year old
The anecdotes are very helpful! He came up typical for sensory and fine motor today anyway. So, wrong tree to bark up. Spoke to the sleep doc's fellow who was calling about a bad compliance report. Asked him about PLMS and said the movents were minimal but if we wanted to get blood work, we could. F...

Re: Helping my 4 year old
He is so restless, though. Yelling out, kicking me In his sleep...he is hot. He is cold. He needs a drink. This is all in one night. And it is usually every night. I got a message from the sleep doc that they received the compliance report and I should call them or I can wait until follow up. I thin...

Re: Helping my 4 year old
Got a full 8 hours before he ripped it off tonight, but that was with 2 wake ups. Wish I knew why this kid is still waking up so much? Tried getting mask on two nights ago after he had fallen asleep in the car but he wasnt having it no matter what and ended up crying and screaming "just let me sleep...

Re: Helping my 4 year old
I am sure they have access to all of the data you mentioned. It is a hospital-based sleep center and it the lab is the same location as the doctor's office. There is no cataplexy that I have seen. He only falls asleep during the day if I drive him around at length. He fights sleep. The 0.0 latency m...

Re: Helping my 4 year old
The pediatric forums I have found are not very active. If the only software you have is Sleepyhead, can you post a screenshot of Overview, only Session Time and Usage selected, date range last 2 months? ? Here is his overview. Actually, looking at this, he has gotten some good nights. Maybe more th...

Re: Helping my 4 year old
Interesting angle. I don't know anything about PLMS and I don't know how extensive his bloodwork his been in that area. He had been to a hematologist at age 2 for ITP which resolved spontaneously and so a lot of testing was done at that time. In addition, I know he was screen by the hematologist aga...

Re: Helping my 4 year old
I think you mentioned that he may have ADHD. Sleep issues, including difficulty settling to sleep, are common in kids with ADHD. Perhaps you can talk to his doctor about giving him melatonin at night?). We tried a controlled release melatonin under his neurologist's recommendation, but he STILL wak...

Re: Helping my 4 year old
I know it's impossible to tell someone else how to live, and I'm NOT judging. But I personally, if I had any options at all to work with (or maybe even if I didn't) I would do absolutely anything necessary (like changing jobs or shifts) to facilitate what my child needed, and making a child with sl...

Re: Helping my 4 year old
The orthodontist we are using is an advocate of RME and his practice is geared toward helping sleep disordered breathing. He is considered the person to go to in our area. I will ask him about the Damon approach as I am not familiar. I had that thought about the pressure too especially seeing some o...

Here are two screenshots, the first was two nights ago, when he woke up and ripped the mask while still asleep after several hours. The second screenshot, he went over 9 hours with the mask on: Ripping mask off: http://i995.photobucket.com/albums/af79/apollo174/lotsofwaking_zpsd8afa952.png Full usag...

Re: Helping my 4 year old
How much total sleep do you think he actually gets per night? Is he presently on any medications? What is his current AHI? He gets between 8-9 hours of interrupted sleep a night. Not enough but the best he can do with a very good sleep hygiene routine in place. Sometimes I can get him to take a 1-2...

Helping my 4 year old
We are two months into CPAP use with my son and in the process of getting palatal expander fitted which I hope will be in place by the end of this month. He is on a PR System One with humidifier CPAP machine and uses the pixi or wisp with pad a cheek and a pressure setting of 5. He had tonsils and a...
