Re: Sleep Apnea, Effexor and Weight Gain
It may be "just air" but being on CPAP does things to your body no one understands, whether it is metabolism, body chemistry or what, who knows. Maybe having my heart racing to keep by my oxygen level up for a short burst every minute all night long was burning calories and the CPAP got rid of all n...

Re: How long to feel "normal" again
I felt fine until I started using cpap. Once I started, I had two of the most miserable months of my life, tired all the time and my face and eyes all swollen, and I barely remember half of it plus I gained 10 pounds. So, I voted "under 6 months" since it took me a little over two months to feel any...

Re: Torn Between Two (Sizes of) Mask
Oddprofessor, I have the very same problem. The WISP small/medium is too big and sticks into my eye sockets but the WISP petite is a little too narrow across the nostrils. I take an Allegra every day and my sleep doc wrote a prescription for generic flosnase and that made a huge difference in the co...

Re: POLL: Weight gain/loss and cpap therapy
Your poll choices and the title of your poll are completely different. After many years at the same weight, I immediately gained 10 pounds in the 6 weeks after starting CPAP. But your questions only relate to impressions about the affect of weight on OSA. Why the mismatch?

Re: Sleepyhead stopped importing - Mac
I finally took my SD card and re-inserted it in my machine in case data had not been read/kept but there might still be live data in there. On importing after that, I did get minimal data so that recovered some for last night. I'm thinking, since I went to bed late after NY revelry and didn't look a...

Re: Sleepyhead stopped importing - Mac
Thanks for your offer of help. There is nothing unusual happening. Everything looks exactly like it always has but when I hit the red import button, nothing happens. That has happened before when I accidentally had the SD card locked I think. I can only tell when an import has taken place because th...

Sleepyhead stopped importing - Mac
Any Sleepyhead/Mac experts, I need your help. I'm about 90 days in with my APAP and have checked my data almost daily with Sleepyhead on my Mac. My husband just got his machine and I added him as a second "user" to show him how his numbers looked and encourage him to set his own system up. I was abl...

Re: Which Mask Does Your Partner Like?
Here is what worked for us: After giving up on nasal pillows due to discomfort, I started with an FP Eson nasal mask. FP uses a small white disposable filter/diffuser and they use a little plastic guard that snaps on and holds it in place on top of the exhalation port. When I found the Eson was stic...

Re: 90 Days & Still Exhausted
websiteguy, My first CPAP night was September 27th. I went for two months more exhausted than I'd ever been in my life. Other than snoring I'd no symptoms I was aware of before CPAP, no fatigue at all. Except for my feet being warm the very first night and thereafter, I felt no benefit from CPAP and...

Is heated hose working?
How can I tell if my heated hose is working? It always feels quite cold. I'm still pretty new at this and want to be sure my equipment is all OK before I pay for it. Thanks for any advice.

Re: Alternatives To F&P HC407 Mask??(Exhalation noise)
The FP "Q" means there is a small disposable filter held by a small clear plastic part that clamps over the exhalation port. The FP Eson has one also. For all of my masks, I tape a half thickness of the FP disposable exhalation filter over the exhale port to get rid of the noise and strong draft. Ju...

Re: Mask Issues
This, I have used and like the Eson but the peak of the "triangle" formed by the wide lower portion that covers the nostrils and the upper point at the top that rests on my nose was too high and broad. It reached into my eye sockets and caused a lot of swelling in my eyes and upper face. I found the...

Re: Low AHI vs. Leaks??
Thanks to everyone who has been so helpful. I understand a lot more of what Sleepyhead is telling me. I need to take a methodical approach to this, record what changes I make and not make too many changes at once or too quickly. There may be another mask or two to try - I guess a lot of folks are in...

Re: Low AHI vs. Leaks??
Well, I have lots of ideas of things to try now. Only need to keep good enough records about what I change when and what difference it makes! Thanks very much. Maybe Robysue will take a look at my backwards chairs or FL's and offer an opinion, too.

Re: Low AHI vs. Leaks??
I wondered if it would look "ugly" but had no basis for comparison but the couple I'd seen posted here. I read some earlier posts and then viewed my flow "shape." A lot of them have briefly flattened tops and, it is almost all "chairs" with the seat to the left not the right. I can see that when I h...
