Re: Tourette's and central apnea?
Hello OP. I am a 26 yo female with tourette syndrome who is experiencing what I think is the same thing you are. At first I just thought it was breathing tics happening at night but im at the point now where Ive barely slept the past two nights and everytime I'm almost asleep I just stop breathing ...

Re: Central apnea...moving to sea level
Thanks for the tip. I've heard about this. You've been taking long term? I thought this was more of a short term thing.

Re: Central apnea...moving to sea level
Most people just adjust their machines... But, whatever works for you. Man I wish it was that easy. Unfortunately it's not so simple with CSA. This is the best I can do. Yeah, no. There's plenty of people with central apnea. Friend of mine, for one... he's on an ASV... frequently gets *zero* AHI. P...

Re: Central apnea...moving to sea level
My average AHI is 8-12 here at home, as read on my ASV. That's abysmal! No wonder you feel like shit. Agreed! The best number I've seen since getting on treatment is 7. This certainly is a terrible number if you have OSA and you should be able to get that much closer to zero. But with CSA, unfortun...

Re: Central apnea...moving to sea level
Thanks for the feedback folks. As for how I know my apnea improves at sea level, over the years I took my ASV with me on many trips (I travel to sea level about 4-5 times a year). I monitor my numbers pretty closely, and as I'd predicted (and as my sleep doc had told me), my numbers improved dramati...

Central apnea...moving to sea level
Hi all, It's been about five years since I was diagnosed with central (and a little obstructive) sleep apnea. I live in Fort Collins, Colorado at about 5,000 feet. After living here ten years, I think it is finally time to move to sea level to resolve my sleep issues. When I travel to lower cities, ...

Re: Stomach Sleeper masks
I was a stomach sleeper too before PAP therapy. This has been a battle for me too. I've had to become accustomed to sleeping on my sides, which I don't like one bit, it makes my shoulders hurt. I've had some success sleeping on my stomach with my face "hanging" off the side of the pillow, and anothe...

Re: Kinda Silly Question
I'm surprised there isn't a setting to silence that - my 560 is silent except if I pop the SD card while powered. Believe me, I'm surprised too. The beeps are really loud. No settings to change it, not even in the administrative menus. It's a model 960, so PR must have added this loud beep later on...

Re: Kinda Silly Question
I just take the whole thing off without turning it off or unhooking the hose. It's really my only option. The machine makes a loud beep when turning it on or off (which might wake my wife), so I don't want to do that. And I can't disconnect it because I use a fleece SnuggleHose cover, which covers u...

Re: Best bed
About a year ago we bought a really nice, expensive bed. This stomach sleeper loved it. Then came my apnea diagnosis and now I can only sleep on my sides and I hate it. My hips hurt and it ruins my night. I did two nights in the sleep lab on a Sleep Number bed, and man was that thing AWESOME. I real...

Re: Newly Diagnosed
I had a very similar experience. I felt better than I've ever felt within a couple of days when I first started therapy. I felt amazing! Life changing! But within two weeks I was back to feeling tired again. It's been three months and I'm still tired (doesn't help that I'm battling insomnia). I'm ho...

Re: How does insomnia feel?
I've been a life long insomniac (I'm 35 now). In fact that's why I originally saw my sleep doctor this fall. The apnea diagnosis was a surprise. For me I have both maintenance issues and getting to sleep issues. I lay awake getting frustrated. During the day I feel like I'm buzzed. I'm just never qu...

Re: Beard
I have a Swift FX nasal pillows mask and it works well with my beard. When I first started I had the sore nose, and realized I had it cranked down way too tight. Looser is better. Plus I found that my skin toughened up a bit, kind of like those fingertips toughen up after several weeks of guitar pla...
