Re: Medication affecting AHI?

I will review the data when I get a chance later and get back to you, Robysue. And yes, these medications are of tremendous benefit at this time. I have to function at work, live my life, etc., and without them right now I don't think I would be doing any of these things. My meds are carefully coord...

Re: Medication affecting AHI?

My pressure is set at 10-15, and last night I averaged 14.8 with an AHI of 6.6. I'm considering upping the pressure, but I want to give the meds a couple of weeks to adjust to see if it lowers on its own. Like I said, before the meds I was averaging and AHI of 2-3, and it wasn't unusual to be under ...

Re: Medication affecting AHI?

Thanks everyone for your input. I've only been taking these medications about 2 months, and it's been a constant process of adjusting dosages to control my symptoms, so I'm hoping that I'm just adjusting to the increased dosage and my AHI will eventually go back to where it should be.

Medication affecting AHI?

I have been going through major life changes, experiencing debilitating depression and anxiety, included anxiety attacks. I am currently on Citalopram 30 mg a day and Xanax 1 mg 3x a day. My AHI has shot up from an average of 2-3 before the medication to about 7, and has been as high as 12. I asked ...

I'm a little annoyed

About what I see as the unnecessary involvement of the DME in my treatment experience. They are necessary in order to provide and maintain our equipment and supplies and provide the insurer with compliance data, but this whole bit bit about needing them to make pressure adjustments is frankly insult...

Re: Full Face Masks that won't bruise my nose?

I had that problem at first, but upon a co-worker's recommendation (who is a former DME employee), I bought this little Band-Aid brand Friction Block Stick. It's intended to prevent blisters on your feet, and looks like a miniature stick of deodorant. I used it for about a week (applying it to the a...

Re: Newbie, G'day

I thought Aussies only said "g'day" to Americans because they think we expect it because we've all seen "Crocodile Dundee."

Re: No Dreams? just a thought and a question

It's strange to me that others equate remembering dreams to poor sleep. Before CPAP, I would occasionally dream for a short period of time, usually just before awaking in the morning, but I would rarely remember them. Now I have lots of vivid dreams, and I often remember some of them. As far as anxi...

Re: Changes in body/brain chemistry?

My sleep is typically very good. I dream a lot, and that used to only happen sometimes for short periods of time. I think letting things sort themselves out might be the best approach. If I am experiencing some sort of change in chemistry, my previous experience with withdrawal tells me it takes qui...

Re: Changes in body/brain chemistry?

I do take some meds for blood pressure, allergies and reflux, but nothing psychiatric in nature. I wanted badly to go to rehab when I got clean, but I was uninsured and could not afford it. But luckily I was so over addiction and wanted so much to get clean that I was somehow able to summons the wil...

Changes in body/brain chemistry?

Years ago, in another life, I had a serious opiate addiction. Long story short, I have long-since kicked it and have been clean since. After the initial few days of feeling miserable after quitting cold turkey, I went through a period of a couple or three months of hard to describe physical sensatio...

Re: AHI suddenly higher

I believe your explanation is the correct one since the user materials with my mask explicitly caution against any use of chin straps which have a tendncy to pull the jaw back. I know that one night does not a trend make, but after nearly two weeks with an AHI > 10, I slept very well last night wit...

Re: AHI suddenly higher

I hope it is the cause. The point at which I tightened my mask up so much (because of some small leaks when I moved around) was about the same point at which the AHI shot up. Being the logical type, however, I realize that correlation does not necessarily equal causation, but I'm hopeful that this i...

Re: AHI suddenly higher

I'm thinking my mask is too tight. After waking up 3 hours in last night to use the bathroom, I looked at my machine and had an AHI of 15. I laid in bed for the next 30-45 minutes stressing and worrying about all of this, when it occurred to me that my mask was so tight that it was pushing my jaw in...
