Oracle 452 oral mask
I stopped using CPAP about 3 months ago because of sinus pain due to various surgeries. The ENT Surgeon said that the CPAP machine usually blows the air into the lungs and on the way out it can go into the sinus cavities, but most of my sinus turbinates were removed and so the CPAP air was going str...

Free Resmed Nano mask test from DME?
My DME said that I could try the Nano for a week free of charge, is this normal? Second question, I am on Medicare and so my APAP S9 is on rental (been using it for 3 months at 6.5 hours per night), but the paper work said it is rented for 13 months. Is this period ever reduced if the patient is usi...

Re: Design fault with the Aloha pillow mask
Issac, I did block off the pillow openings and lowered it into a bowl of water (attached to APAP machine) up to the elbow vent holes, I then rotated and pulled the elbow away from the main body. The air leaks between the elbow and body increased a lot, so if you can keep the elbow pressed in the air...

AHI & CA.
In the 3 months that I have been using APAP my AHIs are average 1.3. But about 70% of them are CAs and some nights all of them are CAs, usually the CAs are in the last 2 hours or so of the night/morning. Does this pattern of mainly CAs and them being in the morning indicate anything. My average pres...

Design fault with the Aloha pillow mask
I have been struggling with mask leaks and could not work out why they were increasing a lot at some parts of the night and at zero for hours other parts of the night. During the night I felt some air blowing and it was not from the pillows against my nose or out of the vent on the elbow, it seem to...

Re: Sleep study and oxygen level
I have seen the sleep doctor twice since my sleep study and he looks at my S9 printout and says that I need a APAP. He arranged the sleep study, gave me the prescription and said that I need to go back on APAP. I only started going through my study summary and other information after I have had a ha...

Re: Sleep study and oxygen level
I original started on CPAP in about 2005 when my first sleep study showed a AHI of 39, with the morning headaches and daytime tiredness. After using CPAP for five years I had a lot of my turbinates removed due to infections etc. About a year later and I just stopped using CPAP (no sleep study) for a...

Re: Losing my Eyebrows
I found out that I had an under active thyroid about 10 years ago (before going on CPAP) and the doctor mentioned that my eyebrows at the outer edges were going thin/fall out. It has stayed about the same even though I take a prescription medication for the under active thyroid. Other people who hav...

Sleep study and oxygen level
When I had my sleep study in June my AHI was 7.6 (36 respiratory events, which were broken down to 1 Apneas and 35 Hypopnea) and so I did not have the usual second half with APAP and mask on because was AHIs were too low. My oxygen level during sleep study (with some wake time) was between 93 & 95 %...

Re: RE: my humidifier problem
I use a S9 and climate hose and to keep my sinuses from drying out I am on 6 on the tank and 75 degrees on the hose. I was on 5.5 and 83 degrees but it was too hot as the night progressed. I use about half a tank in 6.5 hours, I may have to increase the hose temperature as winter comes on. My only c...

Modification to Aloha pillows mask
I use the Aloha mask with the tube located over my head, I found the velcro strap which came with it allowed the tube to slide back and forth. Previously I had tried the Resmed Swift LT pillow mask and liked the plastic over-the-head tube retainer, it allows the tube to be position which helps to ho...

Re: Medicare Coverage for an Fully Data Capable CPap
I recently went back onto APAP and I am on Medicare Disability (not for OSA). The DME gave me a Resmed S9 Autoset with the Climate controlled hose. They said that Medicare starts out renting the APAP and then buys it later, I think a lot of people do not stay with the treatment and had the machines ...

Re: Proof of OSA
After many more phone calls to DME and doctors office, the doctors office said that they are have a technical problem and cannot printout my medical records. Its strange that they did not say this a week or so ago, instead of just says that they we send the info to the DME. Only time will tell if I ...

Proof of OSA
I tried to order a new pillow for my mask because I can get one every month. The DME said that they have tried twice to get proof from the sleep doctor that I need to be on APAP. My sleep study about 4 months ago showed that my events were at 7.6 AHI and so that the second half of the study, I could...

Re: DME mask returns limited to 1 time?
I went to Lincare in Washington State, and I kept my fourth mask. I did not have any trouble just taking them back and just explaining why it did not work. One of the first three masks I explained that it was quite good and I may want to return to it, they said they would keep it to one side for me ...
