Re: Bacteria Filter--Will air Flow be Reduced ?

Bacteria Filters are designed to go after the Humidifier. Also, they do increase pressure drop, however the machine can sense this and compinsate. (cool software). It is not recommended below 7 because the pressure is so low it is hard for the machine to sense the increase in pressure drop and compi...

Re: Engineer, and I'm curious if I can help

I wish I could design one mask that works for everyone all the time but lets get serious here. There are 7 billion people in the world and excluding identical twins or tripplets everyone has a different face. Typically we try to solve the biggest issues from the current market and make the mask work...

Re: Selecting a mask- Taking a shot in the dark with my DME

It's these stories that are the biggest sore spot for me. I get so mad at DMEs telling people what they need and not doing what is best for the patient. Lots of DMEs are trying to reduce inventory (a lot due to competitive bidding) and get a small set of masks they will use all the time. Best case i...

Re: Engineer, and I'm curious if I can help

You are preaching to the choir on this one!!! I vented on an earlier post about my dad's poor experiance at a DME. We try our hardest from our end because the more we can educate them the more sucessful we are as a company. All I can say is we will continue to fight this one EVERYDAY. But you guys o...

Re: Engineer, and I'm curious if I can help

you may not be wrong. remember that OEMs trial in markets that product the most revenue, for example, if we sold $100,000,000,000 in France and only $1,000 a year in Russia, we are going to trial in France. (totally made up numbers by the way). I can suggest that each OEM does have a trialing progra...

Re: Engineer, and I'm curious if I can help

Cuz DMEs keep the DVDs for some reason... and we make the youtube videos to reach the most people for free basically. DVDs aren't expensive but you would be annoyed if I told you how much it costs to make a mask vs how much it is sold for (remember there is a lot of overhead in a regualted industry)...

Re: Engineer, and I'm curious if I can help

I know... not something we all agree with but it is a trick companies use to make the DMEs happier so they buy our masks over the compitition. I receintly had this arguement and lost. Our hope is that the majority of DMEs will give out all the sizes to give the patient the ablity to choose at home t...

Re: Engineer, and I'm curious if I can help

the pump idea has been brought up before but if it gets a hole in it then the patient can no longer get therapy which is a little more critical than shoes not having quite as much support as you want. I haven't seen the bike helmet that pumps, i would expect they have the same concerns because it is...

Re: Mask straps hurt the back of my head - will a head cap work?

I don't want to discourage trying things till you find what works but I am skeptical that the cap would work. If you have an old headgear I have a suggestion, if you look at new headgear they are starting to put out the bottom area in the back is starting to be cut higher than older headgear to help...

Re: Engineer, and I'm curious if I can help

Enghelp: I too appreciate you being on the site and asking for opinions and suggestions on how to improve mask fit. I liked an earlier suggestion someone had about having the ability to direct the masks venting to where it is most convenient. That would be especially useful in the winter. I would l...

Re: Engineer, and I'm curious if I can help

49er, Your right, I'm sorry. I am here to learn about all the issue and see if I can help in any way I can. I will discuss with my marketing manager about putting out specific assemblies that work for smaller people. As for the youth FF masks there aren't any that i know of either, I need to get in ...

Re: Engineer, and I'm curious if I can help

Has everyone heard of the Acurest TrueFIT mask? Has anyone ever tried it? It is a mask developed specifically for your face. Last I heard insurance won't cover it so it is like $500 out of pocket with no replacement part program and I was wondering what people think about that.

Re: Engineer, and I'm curious if I can help

As someone with a petite to small face, I would like to have the option when I order a mask from an online dealer like cpap.com to have the option of choosing a small size headgear without having to pay an extra fee. Expecting one size headgear to fit all types of heads is absurd in my opinion. 49e...

Re: Full Face Masks

FF masks are almost always harder to get a consistent seal on than nasal or pillows masks. This is because as you add more and more of the face you are trying to seal against the geometries between people get more and more different. I agree with the other members that if it is only an occasional op...
