Re: Am I getting robbed?

To tell the truth, yeah I didn't check shit out at all. I just took what they gave because it was working. I didn't actually pay any of that $800, the sleep study and a scary mole took up my deductible, but I switched to HSA this year and I just found out that I'm going to be dipping into the accoun...

Am I getting robbed?

The sleep clinic I went to told me that I'd be renting my device for 3 months and then I'd be buying it. I got a bill for $800 and figured that was it. They're still charging me rent! So I went to my insurance website and checked out the codes in the EOB's. They apparently only sold me the humidifie...

Re: OT: BC/BS raised fees for affordable care act

If you're struggling to pay for your medical insurance then you're obviously an irresponsible, lazy-ass, mooching piece of garbage that deserves no sympathy at all.

Re: CPAP sounds like a kazoo

I have a resptronics PR60. We kind of need to know which of the Series 60 models you have. To help you figure it how, you may find reading through my Newbie Guide to Respironics Machines useful. It's a 560. I think it must not be the filter doing it. I pulled them both out last night and let it run...

Vent hole placement

I hate that the Swift FX blows the vent air out and down. I often want to leave my arms above the blankets, but it blasts them with cold air. So I have to mummify myself in the blankets, where I often get too hot. Is there any pillow format that blows in an out and up direction...or any alternative ...

CPAP sounds like a kazoo

I have a resptronics PR60. The filter buzzes about inside the intake and makes kazoo noises. Often it wakes me up. Have to keep pushing on the filter in different ways to get it to stop, and generally it only does for a little while. I thought maybe it was dirty and so replaced it...which helped a l...

Homemade mask cleaning sollution

What's a good way to clean a cpap mask without the whipes? Preferably using stuff around most households... I know hand soap pretty well doesn't work. Maybe something with baking soda?

Re: Rainout

With the PR S1 heated hose you have 2 settings available. One being the amount of humidity to be delivered ...settings 1 through 3 The other being the temperature of the air going through the hose and those settings are 1 through 5...with 5 being the highest. https://www.cpap.com/productpage/pr-sys...

Rainout

So its my first winter with the CPAP and it's starting to get colder. I can't sleep with the window shut, just can't do it. Last night I suffered from rainout really bad. I tried to change the humidifier setting to 1, but I was dried out in mere minutes. My normal setting in 2 and I still need to sp...

Re: Question about bathroom breaks.

I just take turn it off and take the mask off. The mask I use slips right over my head like putting on a hat. That said, I rarely do this anymore. I haven't needed to get up and use the bathroom but maybe 10 times in the last 3 months I've been on CPAP. Previously I'd get up at least twice a night.

Re: Why CPAP Masks Require a Prescription

I'm suprised at how a prescription is needed for some places. I purchased a complete mask and headgear from a seller on ebay, no need to show a prescription. I personally can't see why there is a need for a prescription for a mask, but that is JMO I totally agree. I also think the machines should b...

Leaks increasing

Mask bits are supposed to last 30 days. Or at least that's the minumum my insurance will pay for replacements. After only a couple weeks though it seems any mask starts to get worse and start to leak. The latest example is after I did my 2 week cleanup. Hoses, mask, headgear...the works. All in soap...

Re: Do nasal pillows masks dry nose out more?

I use a saline spray and an aloe based moisturizer. It does dry me out, but its bearable and its better than being plugged.

Lately it's not been bad at all, but the current air humidity level here is above 80%. Muggy as hell. My hydro tank hasn't needed additional water in a week.

Re: Engineer, and I'm curious if I can help

Even if you open your mouth before CPAP you may not after you start using it. Getting the air you need through the nose could make your body happy and keep your mouth closed. YES! I was a chronic mouth breather. I'd wake up with a dry mouth, plugged up nose, and throat full of sticky, brown chunks....
