Re: a little nervous - venting

Crushed raw garlic has helped me fight off some infections. If you can't stand antibiotics it is worth a try. Peel one or two cloves and crush it with a garlic crusher. You can mix it in applesauce to cover up some of the garlic zingyness. Alternatively I sometimes mix it in a glass of V8. Of course...

Re: newbie has figured it out!! :)

OK Sheriff I admit that it would be nice to not bother with the humidifer, but keep in mind that a dry mouth can lead to tooth decay and periodontis as saliva has some protective nature to it. So for anyone going that route I would recommend to especially keep up with brushing and flossing and make ...

Re: Opting for Surgery

Before going for surgery, it might be worth it to look into "Oral Appliance Therapy". My father had surgery that did not work for him, but then he went the OAT route and that did work for him. It seems like less hassle than CPAP but it does cost more. (I am trying to make CPAP work first just becaus...

Re: Brand New User: APAP makes me MORE Tired!!

I see the original post is old, but it helps me to know this also, as I made a similar post just recently. I was "more tired" as well, but think I am getting better just recently (after a month). It was interesting to hear from a sleep tech.

Re: Swift FX mask sniffles/flutters/vibrates ?

I switched to the Wisp last night, and I agree it seems good. I slept fine the first night, AHI = 0.8, no major leaks. No more flutters or messing with Lansinoh. Thanks Jaybeem.

Re: more tired than before CPAP

Hi again! For the past several days, I have been feeling better. I don't feel so tired anymore. I just wanted to follow up and tell you all. Beyond not feeling so tired, I think I feel other slight signs of improvement. I feel as though it is easier to clean stuff up around the house, and I felt as ...

Re: Little bit scared... Got the machine today.

Hi, Rofriki!

Don't get your knickers in a twist!

(I just have always wanted to say that to a lady across the pond.)

But seriously, do you know if you are a "mouth breather"? If you aren't, then you could get a smaller mask than any of those you have described.

Re: DO DMEs PUSH FULL FACE MASKS?

Mine didn't, they offered me pillows or nasal mask to look at first. But FF is best for some people. Maybe your guy was just an airhead.

Re: New to cpap - edgy, irritable, weepy...is that normal?

I think that starting CPAP really changes one's circadean rhythm all around, and this affects hormones and probably neurotransmitters as well. So while I can't really explain how you feel exactly, I don't find it surprising. I think also some folk's circadean rhythm may be more resistant to change t...

Re: Can you sleep on both sides but not your back?

I don't know for sure, but I would give the tennis ball a try. Instead of taping it, I had previously heard of putting one in a sock and safety-pinning the sock to the back of the pajama shirt. My guess is that you can still roll over onto your other side with this thing on your back as it isn't so ...

Re: more tired than before CPAP

Could your med combination be making you tired? Also, I would be very concerned that the combination you are taking has a great danger of leading to serotonin syndrome because all the items affects the body's level of serotonin. Please check with your doctor. Even if he/she approved this, I would s...

Re: more tired than before CPAP

Regarding 11 hours of sleep: Yeah I know I'm a horrible slob. Trying to get better though. I do not remember my original sleep study AHI but they told me it was in the moderate range. I guess my body is trying hard to get rested even though it isn't getting good sleep. Is it my meds that are making ...

Re: Please help me with software

OK following Pugsy's link onto page 3 of that thread I found this following link, and this version did in fact work on my Mac with my "60 series" machine: https://s3.amazonaws.com/thefreemanclan.net-publish/SleepyHead.dmg Now I have to figure out what I am looking at with all those graphs. I will tr...

Re: more tired than before CPAP

Thanks everyone for your input and encouragement. It helps to know that my situation isn't unusual. The current linux version of sleepyhead 9.2.something and so it doesn't support my machine, if I understand correctly. I think I will start a new thread asking specifically for help with software... I...
