Re: Anyone else like me actually reasonably happy with their DME
I've been VERY pleased with my DME for nearly nine years.......CPAP-dot-COM. I have never and would never use a local brick and mortar DME. . Unfortunately, most insurance companies will not deal with online companies like cpap.com. If I had to pay out of pocket I would certainly buy online. My 20%...

Re: DME and Sleep Centers: Food for Thought
I get my equipment and supplies from my sleep center. They sold me a full data machine and not a brick that would make them the most money. They also have about 30 different masks all hanging on the wall and seem willing to give patients any mask they want versus trying to give patients the one they...

Re: Why does headgear wear out so fast?
The Sleepweaver headgear does not have a quick release so I am forced to undo the velcro every time I take it on or off. I don't believe it would be possible to get the headgear on without undoing the velcro. If someone is getting the Sleepweaver headgear on without undoing the velcro I would like t...

Anyone else like me actually reasonably happy with their DME
I read all the horror stories here about DMEs and realize I am reasonably happy with mine. The sleep center I went to is also the DME in my case. I didn't know anything about CPAP when I got my machine and mask. It turns out the machine they sold me (Respironics S1 60 series auto) is not a cheap dum...

Re: Why does headgear wear out so fast?
If the Elan headgear has quick release that would be new to me and I've been using it for 8 months now. The white tabs in the photo are the velcro tabs.

Re: Why does headgear wear out so fast?
I read a lot of posts here about people having trouble with headgear wearing out before Medicare or other insurance will pay for new headgear so I don't think I am alone. The Sleepweaver Elan has no quick release so the velcro pretty much has to be undone every day. Circadiance recommends replacing ...

Why does headgear wear out so fast?
Why the heck does headgear for CPAP masks wear out so fast? I am currently using a Sleepweaver Elan mask. I had the first set of headgear for 8 months which was a few months too long. The velcro was totally shot and the headgear kept coming undone. Why can't manufacturers make something that lasts l...

Re: Is it normal for insurance payments for CPAP to change?
My insurance company called back and their review shows the unit should have been paid for in January. They only paid $64 for the rental in January because the machine was now paid off. They are researching why they paid the full $180 rental fee in February considering the machine was paid off in Ja...

Re: Is it normal for insurance payments for CPAP to change?
I talked to my insurance company and it will take a few days to get an answer on my claim.

Re: DME question
If you buy through insurance at least you're satisfying your deductible. If you buy your machine with your own money you'll still have the deductible to satisfy. Maybe with dual insurance the deductible isn't as much an issue?

Re: Is it normal for insurance payments for CPAP to change?
Insurance policy didn't change at all for 2014. We didn't even have a price increase this year. I do have a $250 deductible, but that isn't supposed to affect how much the provider gets paid. I only pay the discounted amount even if I haven't met the deductible. The way the billing has been done is ...

Is it normal for insurance payments for CPAP to change?
My CPAP is rented by the insurance company for the first 10 months and then I own it. I have paid since May of last year and the DME has billed the insurance company $180 a month. My insurance has only paid $119.25 a month. For January the DME billed their standard $180 and the insurance company pai...

Re: New unit or did I get ripped off?
Unfortunately, many companies tend to be very slow to respond on emails even though it shouldn't be that way. I had an issue with a item destroyed in transit. I contacted the vendor via email and no response after half a day. I called them on the phone and right away they said they would send anothe...

Re: how long is usual to get sleep study results
I had my sleep study on a Wednesday night and I saw the sleep doctor for the results the following Friday. The doctor recommended an APAP and whisked me into another room where a CPAP technician set me up with a machine and mask on the spot. I didn't have go elsewhere for machine or wait for one to ...
