Re: Events Between 3 AM and 6 AM Trend
I experience my OA events in the deeper REM stages as well ... similar time frames to yours. No worries.

Welcome! You'll be fine just takes a little getting used to. How is the mask comfort?

Re: Help with next steps...
Sounds like the min pressure is the issue. I'd raise it .5 every 3-4 days until AHI is consistently <2. Then I believe you will gradually start feeling better.

Re: Cpap usage and Chest Congestion
Doubtful that CPAP is the root cause. I would discuss with your doctor.

Glad to hear you don't let CPAP control your life but rather, compliment it. Enjoy and be well!

Re: Sleep study and oxygen level
I'm not an expert, but here's what I know. O2 desaturation is a side-effect of sleep apnea not the cause. They determine apnea by scoring the periods you essentially stop breathing (apnea) or experience a certain reduction in breathing volume (hypopnea). The cumulative score (index) they arrive at i...

Re: Not adjusting to using the CPAP
FYI you do not need your doctor's permission to change masks. Stick with it, the full face wasn't comfortable for me either, but I hardly notice the nasal pillow mask.

Re: First night: not impressed. Does it get better?
I started CPAP at the end of March. It took me about a month of wrestling with the quattro mask you have. The DME tech gave it to me because I too was a mouth-breather. However, I could not get the leaks under control and I switched to a nasal pillow mask just to say I tried. This was immediate reli...

My wife has thyroid issues and gets her levels checked semi-annually. Sometimes they need to adjust her dosage. Have you discussed this with your endocrinologist recently?

Re: Newbie would like to hear success stories, please.
I am 42 years old and was never ever a runner in my life other than high school gym class and sprints for football. CPAP certainly saved my life (eventually) and my marriage and my career. Not only that, now that my body can heal properly I picked up running and am proud to report that I ran my firs...

Re: Lincare "Ethics" (irony in quotes)
Well, Lincare bills their customers AND makes collection calls BEFORE receipt of the EOB from the insurance carrier. By knowing my rights and how insurance coverage works, I have saved over $500 in 4 months by fighting Lincare and forcing them to wait for my EOBs before paying them.

Makes sense. Not to mention now that my body can heal properly and I have energy again, I've been back to my exercise regimen and have dropped 15 lbs.

Re: Lincare "Ethics" (irony in quotes)
I understand most DMEs like Lincare have additional overhead due to paid techs etc. I am not upset at their pricing model, because that is something I can simply go elsewhere for. My problem is their complete lack of ethics and integrity. Out-right lying and not standing behind their own quotations....

That is a personal comfort setting, but 3 = 3cm of pressure relief for all Resmed S9 series.

Re: Newly diagnosed. AHI of 25. Tips for a newbie setup?
Tech Guy, I'm 42 and recently started CPAP in March. My pressure range is 10-12cm. It took me a couple weeks to find the right mask for me, which ended up being the Resmed Swift FX Nasal Pillow mask. But, as Pugsy mentioned (based on years of experience), to each his or her own when it comes to the ...
