Re: Have machine, but never done study
Once you have determined what machine you have and how to adjust it, I have found an initial trial setting between 8 and 10 centimeters of water a good place to start. For the gentlemen I suggest 10 to 12. Regarding any hazard from using a machine without having gone through a "titration study", I h...

ResMed's Airsense / Aircurve - Issues?
While working with ResMed over the years I have come to respect their genuine concern for both the quality of their equipment and how well their customers are able to use it. Regarding the new Airsense and Aircurve machines, I searched for and could not find a topic which might offer feedback to Res...

Re: Two Weeks and New Questions Keep Coming to Mind
3 out of 19 days over four hours isn't enough time on the device, consistently, for you to really get the full benefit of sleeping with a clear airway. As Jencat implies, more time, specifically 6 to 7.5 hours in my experience, should be your time goal for a recuperative sleep episode. You say 4.5 o...

Re: New to the Forum
First of all. That is a great avatar picture! How in the heck were you able to get that little fella on the ceiling under that balloon? Is that trick photography? Good one! Regarding sleep apnea without benefit of an xPAP, it's advisable to sleep on your side if you can and avoid sleep aids. They ha...

Re: New to CPAP
You may also consider a sleep aid medication to help you get over the initial acclimation period. Either over the counter or Rx, provided you doctor agrees of course. I have had many clients use Ambian, Lunesta, etc., on a short term basis to adapt to xPAP with a fair amount of success. Good luck!

Re: New to CPAP
Statistically, I would agree with Hosecrusher, in my opinion you're doing off the charts good!
Your body clock should reset between one and two weeks, provided if you do take naps, they are not longer than the standard 15 to 30 minute power variety.
Good luck!

Re: trouble adjusting-- anxiety and noise =(
So far, the quietest nasal pillow mask I have come across is the Airfit P10 made by ResMed. Hopefully the Nuance works for you, if not you may consider trying that one. I have actually had people tell me it was so comfortable and quiet, they forgot they had it on. Rather than directed airflow out th...

Re: Question for those with Auto PAPs
In your case I would suggest hitting the ramp button. Just to the lower right of the big dial below the LCD screen. This should take the pressure to the lower end of the spread so that your machine will start "hunting and pecking" for the correct pressure with a pressure easier for you to deal with....

Re: OT: Mike & I have Pneumonia!
Hi Dori! Well wishes and hopes for a speedy recovery for you both! Hopefully things will be back to normal for you both soon. Regarding pneumonia, we had a respiratory therapist I had worked with for many years and she felt today's doctors didn't do enough aerosol ie, nebulizer treatments in additio...

Re: Recurring Intense Sleep Issues
While further defining your condition in a lab is certainly worthwhile advice, you might consider asking your primary care physician for a prescription for an autoset cpap. Of course, without a qualifying diagnoses from a sleep study, you would have to pay out of pocket. Private rental on a machine ...

Re: Smoke smell
As suggested previously, removing the humidifier from the machine to isolate just the machine is a great first step. The post indicates you have had that machine for 8 years. If that's the case, ResMed had a recall in 2006 due to issues with burnt odor. If the serial number on the bottom of your uni...
