Re: OT: Repeating Pattern of Locked-Threads

Wow. I think the pile-on here is disgraceful. It's starting to look like bullying, and no dissent will be tolerated.

Bye.

Re: Do you still take low-dose aspirin daily?

That can be good and bad...when the time comes that you really need it you may not be in as good health as you seem to be now. Sometimes waiting is not the best answer. Definitely, and I have been thinking about that a lot lately. Eleven years have passed since my heart attack and all has been well...

Re: Do you still take low-dose aspirin daily?

I rate my cardiologist very highly, based on his obvious expertise, impeccable credentials and tendency to avoid surgery until it is absolutely necessary (in his opinion). He has been my cardio guy since 2008, when I had a heart attack (four stents). He has kept me on aspirin even though, as far as ...

Re: Unable to find a Mask that work

I am that lucky person who found the right mask straight away. That said, had you asked me if it was the right mask at any point in the first few weeks I would have said no. I did in fact try several before returning to the original. The fact was, the mask wasn't really the problem. It was just me f...

Re: Rumors?

Back in the early 80s I was working for a UK scientific instrument company. A delegation from overseas arrived, representing our biggest customer, which was there to sign our biggest deal yet. I think it was for around one hundred instruments, which was more than tripe the largest single sale up to ...

Re: Brand new Resmed Airsense 10 reporting a high water leak

Don't be put off by your unfamiliarity with the machine. It really doesn't matter how water got spilled, given that you know you did it, so you can avoid it in future. It sounds like you're doing your best to help your elderly mum, and she probably needs it. I was 'only' 57 when I started on CPAP an...

Re: Brand new Resmed Airsense 10 reporting a high water leak

I would first discount the possibility that the small spillage isn't the problem. I don't know how the machine detects a leak, or how sensitive it is, but I would imagine a tablespoon of water would be enough to alert the machine to a leak.

Re: Close to giving up on Devilbiss Sleepcube

Thanks for the replies so far. My experience regarding CPAP vs APAP is rather muddled and unhelpful. The first attempt was too early, before I was even used to wearing a mask all night, and the second attempt (Sleepcube) has been spoiled by a faulty machine that, even once fixed, is inherently noisy...

Re: Received some unsettling news from my DME regarding ASV.

What you're describing as palpitations might simply be 'ectopic beats'. These are pretty common and usually harmless, though if frequent and strong, they can be quite alarming. It feels like your heart takes a pause, then goes a little berserk for a few beats while it plays catch-up. That's how mine...

Re: Close to giving up on Devilbiss Sleepcube

You can run a ResMed APAP and I think the other manufacturers APAPs in CPAP mode. The latest ResMed APAP has a third mode they call 'for her' that responds to detected potential upcoming events a little differently making some (men or women) prefer that mode. Yes, I know. My new Devilbiss will oper...

I'll leave the data interpretation to others, but can I ask why you started tweaking your settings? Was something else going on that might have affected your sleep?

Re: What can I add to humidifier water or external to help with sinus problem?

Have you tried a Neti pot? A rinse before bedtime might help, especially if your symptoms present only at night. I use one from time to time for sinus issues and it seems to help clear congestion and irritation, at least for a short time, and even if it doesn't work tremendously well, I haven't enco...

Close to giving up on Devilbiss Sleepcube

After deciding my first machine (Resmed S9 Elite) was long in the tooth, and wanting to try APAP, I bought a Devilbiss Sleepcube Auto. Various glitches saw it on its way back to the supplier soon after, the principal problem being noise. It came back a week or so ago and, while perhaps a bit quieter...

Re: Does your cpap make you feel inflated?

Aerophagia. We all have to suffer it to some degree. Stands to reason when we're being inflated all night. APAP can help reduce it but, other than that, all you can do is make sure you're using no more pressure than you have to. The relevant sphincter(s) can presumably stay closed until a critical p...
