Re: How was your OSA/CSA discovered?

Wow. my story is so, so similar to all. My DH told me occasionally that I stopped breathing over the last several years, but I just never gave it thought, because I was a snorer and he was as well. I am 52 and about a year ago, my health just seemed to be going in a downward spiral. Yes, I did stop ...

Oxygen level much too low during night. Another sleep study

My Doctor just called and told me that I would need to do another sleep study because while on the cpap machine, my oxygen levels are much too low during the night. He mentioned that I probably need to go on a bipap machine. I'm so upset. I finally felt like I was making progress after several weeks...

Me again re: aerophagia..about to give up

So I cannot tell you how much time I have spent on this board and I am so grateful for it. I am at my wits end to say the least. Most recently, I stumbled upon this related forum from 2009: http://www.cpaptalk.com/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=46716&st=0&sk=t&sd=a&hilit=cpap+and+upper+stomach+bloating&start=1...

Re: Finally slept for 7 hrs. but aerophagia is unbearable

Hmmm, if we don't have one, we should have some kind of glossary of acronyms, as there are so many (not even counting the ones Mollette/Muffy makes up). Sometimes, I am completely lost as to what means what!! Folks just seem to have their own language here, and I think its great, but I am completel...

AFlex...one of the terms of the various forms of exhale relief for the respironics machines. http://aflex.respironics.com/ Check out the SH glossary in my signature line...it's a little newer Pugsy..you are the best. Thanks for all your help, and not making me feel "silly" for asking. I appreciate ...

Can someone pls help me w/CPAP lingo; what do they mean?

I have to believe, that as a newbie, there must be others out there that just don't understand the CPAP lingo. Is there a site I can go to or can someone help us..perhaps list what everything stands for. I have posted recently about my stomach bloat and so many have been helpful, but to honest I spe...

One more comment if I may....

How important is distilled water? I've never used it. I use tap water. I live in MA. air is ok.

Re: Finally slept for 7 hrs. but aerophagia is unbearable

How long did it take everyone to learn the "lingo"? I'm reading all the posts, but half the time, I have no idea what everyone is talking about. I'm Googling as much as I can, but this is hard to understand. I want to be a seasoned cpaper...lol Anyway...learning a lot and I really do appreciate it. ...

Re: Finally slept for 7 hrs. but aerophagia is unbearable

Then I read on this forum about the Ultimate Chinstrap. http://ultimatechinstrap.com/ It was designed by a fellow cpap-er who was looking for a better solution for keeping the mouth closed. It's made of non-stretchy cloth which wraps around the mouth and chin. You could buy one of these (they're ex...

Re: Finally slept for 7 hrs. but aerophagia is unbearable

"Neck angle may help. Stand up, and tip your head forward until your chin touches your chest. Think of it like you're trying to look at a spot on your chest just below your throat." Can someone help me. I've been hearing 2 different ways of neck angle to help prevent the air getting into my stomach...

"The increased energy and decreased stress hormones is GOOD for your body (and your brain, too) With my Autoset, I lost more weight than was ever possible before. Straight cpap gave me aerophagia, with auto, it's gone." Ok...so there's still hope for me, right? I needed to see this, as I am sufferi...

Re: Finally slept for 7 hrs. but aerophagia is unbearable

No apologies needed. Trust me, I am very comfortable "letting it go". Been married for 25 years, and anything goes. And i work from the home, so it's easy. I belch quite a bit, but I still seem to always have that feeling of "fullness" in my upper abdomen. As stated earlier, I did have an xray (seve...

Re: Finally slept for 7 hrs. but aerophagia is unbearable

Ok, so maybe Aflex is the answer to my problem. I unfortunately cannot change my settings. It's as if they are locked, until I make it through the 3 month phase (Insurance thing). I will contact my doctor. Can't thank you enough for this information.

Re: Slept for 7 hrs. without waking up! First time ever...But...

I'm going to print this out and bring to my doctor. I'm not on Aflex. I think?? I am in the 3 month trial phase and I have not got any readings as to how I am doing. I have to get them from the doctor, right? He did adjust to an auto setting but perhaps I should go lower. I will mention Aflex. I wil...
