Re: Help?-I want to video record my sleep
I went with an Amcrest indoor camera, about $60-70. Setup was relatively easy. You can set it to record only when it detects movement or to record continuously. I had it record continuously. I will say that reviewing all the hours of video afterward is a little tedious, even when fast forwarding thr...

Re: S9 Adapt pressure support cutting in and out
If ASV isn't doing it for you you may want to check out Alternative approaches to treatment of Central Sleep Apnea I don't know how to get my insurance to cover EERS titration since on paper the ASV is working for me just fine, but they don't measure CO2. I think my issue might be too much carbon d...

Re: S9 Adapt pressure support cutting in and out
If ASV isn't doing it for you you may want to check out Alternative approaches to treatment of Central Sleep Apnea The author's preferred treatment protocol is to do a sleep study to titrate EERS volume and straight CPAP pressure along with a low dose of acetazolamide. In one of his other papers he ...

Re: Using Acetazolamide to treat sleep apnea above 5000 feet
Thus, the acidosis caused by carbonic anhydrase inhibitors (acetazolomide in this case) may increase the likelihood and severity of salicylate toxicity in patients taking salicylates, and conversely, the acidosis caused by salicylates may increase the likelihood and severity of the acidotic symptom...

Re: Using Acetazolamide to treat sleep apnea above 5000 feet
My doctor routinely prescribes it to his patients even at sea level. I take 125mg every night to try to even out my breathing and reduce micorarousals due to my ASV machine changing the amount of PS so often, my AHI has always been less than 1 with or without acetazolamide. Can't say I've felt any s...

Re: Non-vented masks?
Here are some pictures of typical EERS set ups. https://www.apneaboard.com/wiki/index.php?title=Enhanced_Expiratory_Rebreathing_Space_(EERS) The safety valve is not entirely necessary for a nasal mask, not sure why they put it in there. I took matters into my own hands and removed the safety valve a...

Re: Non-vented masks?
Any mask can be made non-vented by plugging the vent holes, BUT NOT THE SAFETY VENT if it has one. My DME told me to use silicone putty which is sold in pharmacies for use as ear plugs. Your DME should give you detailed instructions on how to set this up along with the in-line vent that will be adde...

Re: Book recommendation: Why We Sleep: Unlocking the Power of Sleep and Dreams
Just looked at the table of contents on Amazon. Looks like an interesting book for those interested in what science has so far managed to figure out on the importance of sleep and the effects of sleep deprivation. I'll probably request it from my library. I can also highly recommend the course "Secr...

Re: New ASV user with PLMD
Serum ferritin below 50ng/mL is well known to contribute to RLS/PLMD. Are you taking your iron supplement with a good dose of vitamin C? If you can't get your ferritin up with an oral iron supplement then ask your doctor for IV iron infusions. That is what my sleep doc recommends. Thanks for your t...

Re: Central apnea...moving to sea level
Topical progesterone (guys typically make 3-4 mgm/day, women 21-23 mgm) also mildly helps prevent hypoxia. I find this really interesting because subjectively I have found progesterone to be beneficial, but I really haven't been able to find any references that discuss its use for this purpose in m...
