Great Ideas! Thank you
Thank you for the great ideas! My mask is only 6 months old. I don't even get the foam insert wet when I wash my mask and hose---I remove and replace it. I will use your awesome ideas even though I am embarrassed that I did not think of them myself And yes---I sure have learned and advise everyone t...

OSA Related Leave of Absence / Disability
Sleep is a major life function . Anyone with a disability that disturbs that major life function is protected by the American Disabilities Act and their employer must legally accommodate for that disability as long as the employee is performing at the level required of similar positions in the comp...

Mask Issue: Help! Crumbling Foam Insert.
I am very concerned to find the grey foam insert inside my Fisher Paykel HC405 crumbling. Not only that, but it has resulted in a few little grey crumbs loose inside my mask. Doing the math...Grey foam crumbs+positive air pressure hooked to my nose=little foam pieces in my lungs. Please tell me this...

The ASAA website lists George Selby as Chairman. Is Dave Hargett also the Chairman? I am confused.

Trazadone
I would ask your doctor to give you a script for Trazadone. It has been around for ages and is often overlooked. It is non addictive and effective.

Equipment Advice Needed...
What bells and whistles should I be looking for to assist in the best possible tracking of my SELF TREATMENT???? I am going to contact my DME rep to demand an exchange of my benign generic equipment for the best available. I am 25 days into using a CPAP for the first time after being diagnosed on 12...

Bowl full of mush
Waverly, Thank you for letting me vent and for introducing the experienced others. You are right, "mush" is exactly what I have received in response to my diagnosis---a bowl full of bland, non-descript nothing. Even heartburn gets more colorful helpful attention than Sleep Apnea! I am glad for this ...

Counting the losses and blessings...
I resonate with all that each of you have written here. I lost... ...my job of 15 years ...respect in my field because others assumed that my deteriorating character was due to my lack of integrity (I must have been screwing around all the time to be so tired, confused, and irritable) ...my marriage...

What one thing...
Of the NUMEROUS things I would change about my diagnosis and treatment of Sleep Apnea, the ONE THING that tops the list is the unprofessional lack of comprehensive care . My GP is clueless about Sleep Apnea and therefore has not even mentioned a treatment plan. My Cranial Osteopath who suspected Sle...

Sleep Apnea's friends...
Sleep Apnea sure did a lot of damage in my life----so sneaky at night like a thief---I have full blown Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and Fibromyalgia. Oh and a lot of anger from being so misunderstood for many years. Being thought of as everything from lazy to depressed to psychosomatic was harder for me...

First night was fine but...
Popinka, I slept very well on the CPAP the first night, yes---in the hospital---despite all of the wires and first experience with the mask, hose, etc... I slept straight through with a fraction of the apnea episodes, they tell me, that I had without the CPAP. I was not as groggy in the morning and ...

Endure
My only advice is to endure. Plan for disappointments that need time to resolve. There are many issues addressed here so as you have them occur look through postings for a lot of the best information---from users. I am two weeks (I am not a sage giving advice but am a fellow beginner) into what I am...
