Robysue,
You're the best! Your posts are always so eloquent. I'm with you and 49er in the "pool" (drowning?). Anyway, you add a lot to these forums.

Re: NOSE STRIPS ALTERNATIVE
I was using Breathrite but it was removing too much skin which is not good for sun exposure. Try Nozovent. Inserts in the nostril and applies outward pressure.

Re: PAP, Alcohol, and AHI
I track my alcohol intake with my sleep log. In my personal case, there is NO correlation with the amount of alcohol I drink, or don't drink, on a given night and my energy levels the next day. A lot of doctors want to blame too much alcohol for problems so that's why I started tracking in the first...

Any suggestions on which of these are worthy reads?

Re: An ugly night and signs of CSR/PB
In that case, when present for smaller amounts of time, I wouldn't even COUNT the CA's because the device doesn't really differentiate between a pause in breathing due to CSR from a pause because the brain forgot to say BREATHE! Since it's relatively normal wake-related phenomena that many of us ex...

Re: sleep apnea surgeries
For more than you ever wanted to know about apnea surgery check the book "Snoring and Sleep Apnea, Surgical and Non-surgical Treatments" edited by Friedman. Costs a pretty penny but worth it if you're considering surgery (you might not consider it after educating yourself). MMA is about the only sur...

Re: resmed-goes-on-warpath-over-sleep-apnea-gear-patents
There's a difference between trying to protect a patent and trying to eliminate all competition (i.e. MS, Apple). Not sure what boat ResMed falls in.

Re: UARS, Flow Limit, and Flow Rate graphs
Of course, yesterday after reading your post I immediately went home to SleepyHead and starting studying my flow shapes. Regarding "Analysis of the Flow Shapes", I find it interesting that my shapes somewhat mirror those of the women (I'm OK with my masculinity) with my shapes being primarily compos...

Re: UARS, Flow Limit, and Flow Rate graphs
Also interesting that Stanford apparently does not practice or subscribe to Krakow's experimental approach using such high PS. Nor does Stanford maintain that UARS and FL are one-in-the-same. Krakow equates the two and draws a zero-FL tolerance policy. I have yet to read of anyone else in sleep med...

Re: UARS, Flow Limit, and Flow Rate graphs
Interesting that you're looking to eliminate the pressure differential. Dr. Krakow recommends a higher differential pressure via BPAP per the info. found on this very site:

Re: Post-Surgery Blues: Scoring Question
As a follow-up, my orthodontist and I determined that the TAP Elite is at it's maximum protrustion for me after approximately four months of adjustments. I'm having a hard time keeping my jaw "back" during the day. I can set it back in the morning then find that I'll have to set it back again throug...

Re: Sleep Hygiene/Dissenting Opinion
I wish I had mollete's energy (and knowledge). Check out NSJT's post on UARS and Flow Limitations for good stuff applicable to those of us who can't sleep with or without xPAP, oral devices, sleep hygiene, CBT and so on and so forth...

NSJT,
Great post. You just increased my understanding of FL and RERA's exponentially. I'll use this information in my own treatment. Keep us posted on your progress.

Re: Trying Hard Not to Commit Suicide
I didn't read this entire thread but I feel for BoxedIn. I've been there due strictly to sleep deprivation. All other aspects of my life are healthy, happy, and normal. Have you ever crawled out of bed with tremors and hypothermic due to severe sleep deprivation? The only thing keeping one alive at ...
