Re: I survived the flu season
The only flu shots I have ever gotten was when the Air Force ordered everyone to get one. Haven't had one since 1977 and haven't had the flu once.

Four weeks on
I have now been sleeping with a CPAP for exactly four weeks. Yesterday I had my follow-up with the sleep doc. From a baseline AHI of 32 in the sleep study, I'm now down to 1.9. Although I still wake up at night when I need to shift position, my sleep has been otherwise undisturbed. My only complaint...

Re: Post your pet pictures
This is Hemmy (short for Hemingway). We named her that because she is polydactyl, like many of the cats at the Hemingway House in Key West. She'll be one year old in March and she owns me. http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y527/Mark_Gutis/Hemmy_zpseb7ad35a.jpeg This is Munchkin, so named because s...

Re: CPAP on the Carnival Triumph Cruise
My wife and I have been on three Caribbean cruises in the past three years, the last two on Carnival. We have thoroughly enjoyed them all. I do have one piece of advice, at least on Carnival ships. Bring an electric power bar because the cabins have only one, count them, one electrical outlet.

Re: Northeast storms...stay safe
In the past I have demonstrated an incredible incompetence when it comes to dealing with mechanical devices. So, two years ago we made a deal with our next door neighbors. We bought a snowblower and gave it to them. In exchange, our neighbor does his driveway and ours. Untyil he cut a path to our fr...

Re: New to Cpap, how to breathe? Feels like I'm suffocating
For whatever reason, right from Day 1, I was exceedingly comfortable with the nasal pillows. As bizarre as it may sound, I am finding (after two weeks) that using it not only doesn't bother me but is somewhat comforting. I honestly don't notice that it's on at night and my sleep has been MUCH better...

S9 recording question
I have an S9 AutoSet CPAP and it works wonderfully. I was curious, however, if anyone knows how it senses when apnea and hypopnea events occur for it to record on the SD chip.

4th Night
I almost feel guilty posting this, but after 4 nights, I am having no problems, am sleeping better than I have in years and feeling so much better during the day. I no longer feel like I'm about to doze off at a moment's notice. After a sleep study where I averaged 33 events/hour, I'm averaging one....

Jaw pain
Sorry if this has been asked before. I have had a CPAP now for two days with a Swift FX nasal pillow mask. I have awakened both nights with a pain immediately behind the left side of my jaw right under the TMJ. The right side seems fine. The pain feels like a muscle cramp but not quite as serious. I...
