Re: Night Three: Clear Airway Apneas! (Central?)

Hi Julie and Dave. Thankyou for the quick responses. My mind is a little more at ease now. I double checked by sleep study results, are there was no mention of central apnea being a problem. According to the sleep study, I spend about 34% of the time on my back and the rest sleeping on my side. I th...

Night Three: Clear Airway Apneas! (Central?)

Hi All. Night three last night, and woke up, checked my data, and once again my AHI is 5.3. BUT I noticed something different this time. My OBSTRUCTIVE apnea was 1 event for the entire night! This is great, but my Clear Airway apnea was responsible for all the rest! Does this mean I have central apn...

Re: Yet another newbie looking for support.

Well, I checked my data again this morning and still have an AHI of 5.75. I increased the 'auto min' to 7 last night. Any other suggestions to get me below 5? I think the mask is leaking a bit too, but it must leak while I'm asleep because it feels pretty secure when I put it on. It's a mirage quatro.

Re: Yet another newbie looking for support.

Thanks John. To be honest, I've felt really good today! Have cleaned up a bit, gone shopping, mowed the lawn. Usually on the weekends I do the shopping and then fall asleep on the couch for three hours. So I can already see the benefits of cpap. My wife is 39 weeks pregnant with our first child, so ...

Re: Yet another newbie looking for support.

I thought so too Wol! Much better than the 38 I'd been averaging. But worked out how to put the auto minimum setting to 7, so we' ll see if that helps. EDIT: Just read your post John. Maybe I'll drop it back to 5 for the next few nights, rather than going straight to 7. What are the risks with highe...

Re: Yet another newbie looking for support.

Re: Yet another newbie looking for support.

Thanks Jen. Yep, I'm just trialling the 50 but will buy the 60. Is 5/hour acceptable or should I be aiming for lower than that. I'll update my equipment details when I actually buy them. Thanks again.

Re: Yet another newbie looking for support.

I checked the actual levels on SleepyHead and it made it up to about 11 at some stages, so that makes me feel a bit better.

Re: Yet another newbie looking for support.

Here's some data. Looks like I only woke up 5/hour instead of 38 which is a big improvement. Looks like some minor mask leakage. Can someone out there help me interpret this data from SleepyHead. did I get a good night's sleep?! CPAP Statistics as of Friday, 28 December 2012 1 day of CPAP Data, on 2...

Re: Yet another newbie looking for support.

Well, first night seemed to go pretty well. The mask didn't bother me too much andcI seemed to sleep pretty well. Only thing is that it seems like the pressure only gets to about 5.7. Is that very low? I would have thought it might need to get a bit higher? I'll download sleepyhead software to have ...

Re: Yet another newbie looking for support.

Got my trial machine today. I think it's a PR RemStar auto 50? But I plan on buying the PR System One REMStar 60 Series Auto CPAP Machine. Got a full face mask, Quatro I think. Looking forward to trying it out tonight. Felt like I'd been run over by a bus yesterday, so I'm hoping to feel a bit bette...

Re: Yet another newbie looking for support.

Thanks John. I'll take all that advice on board. My doctor did tell me that allcI need is a basic constant pressure model and that all the rest was just marketing to get me to spend more money. But most people here seem to agree with you. Think I'll make sure I get the phillips with all the data/aut...

Re: Yet another newbie looking for support.

Hi again all. Trialling my first cpap tomorrow. I think it's a phillips remstar pro 60. Anyone got experience with this machine. What are the most popular units? The other one this store seems to be pushing is the fisher and pykel icon pro.

Re: Yet another newbie looking for support.

Wow. Thanks SO much for all the quick responses. I will now definitely get an automatic. I'm not rich, but I'm also not strapped for cash, so I'm prepared to pay for the machine that's best for me. I'm a bit of a nerd too, so I'll probably enjoy the data! Is a full mask better for me if I often have...
