Re: CPAP vs Dental Appliance
My oral device was an unfathomable amount of dollars. I truly couldn't believe how this malleable piece of plastic could cost so much money. But in my never ending quest to not use CPAP, I jumped in with both feet. So after a few weeks of wearing this thing, I concluded that I had received zero bene...

Re: Is Ambien dangerous if you have OSA?
My sleep medicine doctor is totally happy to prescribe 10mg Zolpidem Tartrate as often as I want them and I have as a result, been using them in a fairly futile attempt to deal with my sleep maintenance insomnia daily for maybe over five years. Then I got to thinking that not only are all pharmaceut...

Re: (Poll) How Many Hours Do You Sleep A Night?
I seem to need a minimum of 8 hours. Anything less leaves me feeling pretty awful. I suffer from sleep fragmentation and tend to medicate myself later in the sleep cycle to ensure i get the right amount of sleep. What's interesting to me is how one or two hours can make ALL the difference between a ...

Re: Clear Airway Index - Newby
I have recently returned to using CPAP after a 3-year break and am seeing the same thing in my SleepyHead reports. While my AHI for obstructive and hypopneas are totally under control, I see clusters of centrals, particularly towards the end of my night or around arousals. Out of concern, I emailed ...

Re: OK after 3 years, Back to CPAP
Don't want to interrupt your thread but you sound a lot like me. I'm not feeling that fantastic on cpap but then again I haven't used it long enough because I have trouble sleeping and maintaining sleep on it. Glad ambien works for you. It's true everyone has a different body chemistry. I did not k...

Re: OK after 3 years, Back to CPAP
I have the same questions too about centrals on supine position. It looks like we both followed the same routes... struggling with cpap, abandoning, resuming, and trying with medication. FUQE3, could you make a bullet point of things that worked for you? even if not significant? It's hard to say as...

Re: OK after 3 years, Back to CPAP
I haven't posted for a couple of days in order to allow more data to gather and the more Sleepyhead data I see, the more I am seeing that CPAP has my OAs and Hypopneas under control; WELL under control. However, my nights are clearly littered with sleep maintenance problems and the quality, duration...

Re: OK after 3 years, Back to CPAP
Aliens or not , here's an interesting wiki post aboit REM sleep and how it affects our breathing: Steady REM Sleep[edit] Ventilation[edit] Irregular breathing with sudden changes in both amplitude and frequency at times interrupted by central apneas lasting 10–30 seconds are noted in Rapid Eye Movem...

Re: OK after 3 years, Back to CPAP
You don't by chance have one of those overnight recording pulse oximeters to see if those centrals are causing desats do you? It's funny you say that. I was thinking about getting one of those just yesterday. I do remember in my sleep study, this was a major concern for my sleep Dr. that while my A...

Re: OK after 3 years, Back to CPAP
I have written to my Sleep Dr and mentioned the SSRI. He's a neuro as well as a sleep doctor and is very open to any good ideas regarding treatment and finding ways to recovery. I am including last night's Sleepyhead data as I think the number of CAs again are for me a little worrisome. I should add...

Re: OK after 3 years, Back to CPAP
More structured (and better) sleep hygiene might help and sure wouldn't hurt. I doubt it is the whole problem. I suspect that you have a combination of things that are messing with overall sleep quality that most likely is the reason why you don't feel the good numbers. Undoubtedly true. It's also ...

Re: OK after 3 years, Back to CPAP
I doubt the centrals are anything to be concerned about and I doubt they are responsible for your not feeling as good as you like. More likely the breaks in therapy (from whatever reason) played a more important part and I wonder if in addition to the 2 shown breaks in therapy if you had other time...
