Beard problems - nasal pillow works best
I have been growing a beard on and off for years. When I let my mustache grow I always have issues with comfort and seal. I have been using nasal masks for quite a while. I finally discovered that nasal pillows work really well for people sporting the mustache. If you haven’t given that a try, you s...

Re: Air Being Forced Out of My Mouth
I tried using full face masks for years and never stuck to my treatment. My doctor told me I needed a full face mask because I slept with my mouth open. I never did my own research into the matter and took his direction, but I was miserable for years. 11 years later...I know...I finally did some res...

Re: Fainting episodes (but not)
I started using my CPAP religiously again in Dec of 2017. I can say that I am no longer experiencing these episodes. I don't know what they were, but it is odd to even think about it now since it hasn't happened in so long. However, it was so memorable that I can still picture them happening and how...

Re: How can they do this?
I don't know how they are doing it, but I for one like to see this equipment at lower prices. Mask prices seem to me to be coming down a little, but CPAP equipment is so expensive. When your insurance is paying for it you care a little less, but it really hurts your pocket paying yourself. _________...

Helping a friend
I appreciate everyone on this board. You all definitely helped me get my sleep apnea under control. I am seeing AHI under between 1 and 3 since the changes I made after talking with people here. I had a friend a few weeks ago who is going through the same struggles I was. He has a full beard and he ...

Re: Fainting episodes (but not)
I cant disagree. I think stopping use of the CPAP is much like discontinuing pills without your doctor's knowledge. I absolutely was messing with myself physically by using my machine sometimes and then stopping. I have been consistent with my new mask. I love that thing. Years of off and on again r...

Re: Fainting episodes (but not)
Update: Over the last couple of weeks, I have not had any more of these supposed central apneas. SleepyHead is showing maybe one per night, which I think is an error. So, I guess my apneas were causing this. I don't know. It is just a guess. I am just glad it is not happening anymore. I am sleeping ...

Re: Starting over, advice needed please
Thank you for posting and glad you're doing well, yes I'm glad I found it too. I have been offered so much advice and learned a lot. There will still be much for me to get to grips with I'm sure, but this community has given me the confidence to take control of most aspects of my treatment. Just kn...

Re: Starting over, advice needed please
I am glad you found this community. I was in the same boat. I was lost and it didn't seem like I was ever going to get relief. This forum helped me get to a point of regular therapy and through their assistance, I ended up buying a mask which has made my therapy so much more comfortable. Good luck. ...

Re: AHI down after quitting a FFM
Hillbilly, I remember seeing that very leaky screen shot. And I said getting leaks under control is going to be the first step you need to take. Sounds like you have found your solution. You have no idea. I need to go back and post an update. It is crazy. I was worried that my leak info might not b...

Re: CPAP mask with built-in chin strap?
Ruby chinstrap has been a lifesaver for me. It is easy to put on along with my nasal pillow mask. I really don't feel like it is any more hassle. It certainly is more comfortable than my old FFMs.

Re: Dry mouth
I had this problem with both full face masks and total face masks. It was much better with total face masks, but my therapy suffered. Moving to a nasal pillow has removed this issue for me as I use a chinstrap to keep my mouth closed.

AHI down after quitting a FFM
Well, I had often wondered what might happen if I tried a nasal mask of some sort. Of all CPAP masks, the nasal pillow variety seemed most interesting to me and I perceived them to be the most comfortable aspect of therapy if I could ever manage them. After years of fighting with FFM and TFM, I deci...

Re: Many CAs and OAs first two hours of therapy last night
How do you know your oxygen levels dropped to 90% and what is it normally? If you experienced great difficulty in falling asleep that was prolonged then it is possible that those flagged events were the machine flagging awake/semi awake breathing irregularities (sometimes called SWJ or sleep/wake/j...

Re: Fainting episodes (but not)
If you are sleeping without your machine, don't. Feeling weak and dizzy when I woke up in the morning was a symptom of sleep apnea for me. I would have to set on the side of the bed before I could muster the strength to start the day and in the shower things would start to fade out at times. I neve...
