thanks. the bike strap is an interesting piece of improv. It won't work for me though because I am using the nasal pillow.
I will keep an eye out on ebay and see if I can pick up some chinstraps on the cheap.

Chin Strap Durability
Hi fellow CPAPers,
I am wondering how long you get out of a chin strap before you need a new one?
I am finding that after 6 to 9 months my chin straps just don't have the same tension.
What do you find?
thanks, Caprica

Re: coughing and CPAP
I have been taking quinapril for years. even though coughing is a potential side effect for quinapril, I have never had a cough as a side effect in the past. I guess I just have to be patient and wait for the post flu tickle in my throat to subside. If it does not go away, I will probably have to go...

Re: Will a CPAP machine help me if my nose is blocked?
try some nasonex. the CPAP machine will help push it into your sinuses. in time, you will find they improve as the inflammation subsides and you don't need the nasonex as frequently.

coughing and CPAP
Hi I have a set of resmed nasal pillows and a phillips system 1 APAP, with humidifier and heated tube. I use nasonex when required. About a couple of weeks ago I caught a cold / man flu thing, and while that is over thankfully, no throat is still quite sensitive. Everytime I put my APAP machine on a...

Re: full face mask
well I borrowed a Quattro FX from my DMA to take home and try. I ended up giving up after 4 hours of faffing about with leaks and strap settings and went back to my swift fx cushions so I could get some sleep. I must say the mask is very temperamental and sensitive to your strap settings and what ev...

full face mask
Hi I have been using CPAP now for a few months now. I have a phillips system 1 machine with swiftfx nasal pillows. I use a chin strap. My wife is starting to complain that sometimes I open my mouth at night and the APAP starts ramping up to compensate and gets pretty noisy. The chin strap does not s...

Re: newbie needs help interpreting sleepy head data
In case you are interested, here is an update. I went back to the sleep physician last week, sleepyhead reports in hand, feeling all positive that I was getting somewhere. The doctor looked at his print outs, grumbled, then told me not to mess with his prescription and I need to give it six months o...

Re: newbie needs help interpreting sleepy head data
thanks. I might leave it at 7 for a week and maybe play around with the a-flex and c-flex options to see how they make me feel.
I will give them a call and ask to try the other pillow sizes as well.

Re: newbie needs help interpreting sleepy head data
thanks. I think I will give 7.5 a go tonight. What is the AHI range for a normal person? Am I aiming for something that floats between 0 and 5? Also I struggled last night with mask leaks again - despite lansinone and endless strap fiddling. I am wondering if my pillows are the wrong size because th...

Re: newbie needs help interpreting sleepy head data
I adjusted my pressure range to 7 to 12 last night. I do feel a bit better and my AHI score is the lowest it has ever been. Sounds like I am getting closer to a better pressure range.
The question is if a minimum of 7 is good, do I try for 7.5 or 8?

Re: newbie needs help interpreting sleepy head data
thanks again for your assistance. I will give 7cm of pressure a go tonight as my lower end.
Can any one tell me if switching on features like a-flex or c-flex are really that helpful?
thanks, Caprica
