How compliant are you with cleaning the machine?
You know they give all these instructions on what to do, how to do it, and how often. Be honest, how well do you clean the machine and how often? Do you clean the hose every day? Every week? What do you think of cottonelle wipes for the mask? It's safe on the skin. What about the mask? http://bitly....

Re: are there special therapists that can help w/ noncompliance?
I used to have a normal routine, going to bed at midnight and getting up at 10. I even think I used to get up at 9 there for awhile. I guess it's been a problem off and on for awhile. I consider it a problem now because i live at a retirement community that serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I sle...

Re: How to clean equipment?
I use cottonelle wipes on the mask which are okay to wipe your hands and face so I figure it would be okay for the mask? And they are flushable. What do y'all think of the cottonelle wipes? (I just threw out a bunch of pamper wipes away since they weren't flushable.) Mindy Cottonelle wipes: http://b...

are there special therapists that can help w/ noncompliance?
I am experiencing a mental process problem and need help with noncompliance with the machine. Are there therapists out there who specialize in sleeping disorders or sleep apnea? Or can any reputable psychotherapist help? I get to bed late and get up late and the problem has gotten progressively wors...

Re: I hate using CPAP yet afraid to go to bed
Yes, you need to enable it in the clinical menu. Normally all you need to do is go to the clinical menu and change a setting which allows for patient viewing of data. I don't know what choices you might see in the clinical menu but it is usually something fairly simple. All you do is act like the h...

That screen does not show up but it is in the manual. is there something I need to do? In the manual it says "(if enabled by your home care provider)" Is there a way I can set it myself?Pugsy wrote:In the meantime do you know how to get the 7/30 day AHI averages off the machine's LCD screen?

Re: I hate using CPAP yet afraid to go to bed
If you haven't changed the pressure then your machine should still be what the doctor prescribed and the DME set up. How effective that might be.....need to evaluate the software reports. Your machine is a full data machine but you need Encore software (I can help with that) and a Smart card reader...

Re: I hate using CPAP yet afraid to go to bed
When I had my pressure set to low and was having apneas, I was afraid to go to sleep. It got a lot better when I set my machine up correctly. Am I understanding correctly that there is a "prescribed" setting by your doctor? Back when I was first using my machine, it felt like it wasn't blowing much...

Re: Newly Diagnosed. Not Happy. Need Equipment Advice.
I, too, am new to CPAP and just hate the idea of using the machine for so many reasons, so I understand where you are coming from. I was dx in 2009, tried the machine, then quit using it until now. I am willing to try again. I NEED to try again. I just hate being afraid of going to sleep at night. I...

Re: I hate using CPAP yet afraid to go to bed
So my memory problems I have are related to OSA?? One of my doctors lowered a dose of a med I am taking because of a side effect related to memory. He asked me today how I was doing on the new dose. I asked him why the change, said it had to do with memory! Ha! I had forgotten why we changed the dos...

Re: I hate using CPAP yet afraid to go to bed
Thanks y'all for the responses. I am taking notes and will make an appointment with my pulmonary specialist. I am afraid he will get mad because I have this lovely good-as-new machine I used for just a few months. But I do need help and encouragement! I just can't go on like this anymore. And being ...

I hate using CPAP yet afraid to go to bed
Hi, I was dx around 2008 with sleep apnea and have tried the machine and hate it for so many reasons. I have so many other things wrong with me and the machine is just another thing to take care of. I hate that it makes my face break out. It messes up my hair. I can't sleep on my side or stomach. An...
