After a weeks use my ahi is slowly increasing, normal?
Hi, I've been on therapy with my S9 for a week now. When I first started my AHI was 1.6, second night dropped to 1.1 and every night since has slowly increased to 3.0. Is this normal and to be expected or is something else maybe going on? I normally sleep just 5 hours on a work night and i actually ...

Re: Got my S9 Autoset but has 2953 hours on it...
I did just fine with my DME and RT. when I spoke to her on the phone and told her the hours on the machine, she immediately agreed and told me to bring it in to exchange it. Now, understanding its a rent to own like when you rent a car it may not have zero miles on it, the replacement unit had just ...

Re: Got my S9 Autoset but has 2953 hours on it...
I just got off the phone with Aetna and the rep says they rent to own. She also says it is customary for them to issue a machine with several hours on it but also says I wouldn't be out of place to ask for a new unit. She also said if it were to fail early before five years in any case they would co...

Re: Got my S9 Autoset but has 2953 hours on it...
I have Aetna insurance. To the best of my knowledge its a purchase, not a rental but I'm going to call my insurance in the morning. For now, I'm going to use it tonight.
Thanks

Got my S9 Autoset but has 2953 hours on it...
Hi, So after worrying about not getting the machine I wanted I got to the DME and they pulled out an S9 AutoSet as I had asked my Doc for. Everything seemed great until I got home and fiddling with the unit I see it already has 2953 hours run time. That equates to a year at 8 hours of sleep a night....

Re: Doc will write my RX as I want but what about...
That's right, I remember you told me about the E0601 code in a different post and my insurance company does go by the codes. The DME says it will take approx 48 hours to authorize the RX by my insurance co. but safe to say I shouldn't worry about the model as long as they pay by code? Wish me luck T...

Doc will write my RX as I want but what about...
I passed my at home sleep test with the last part being if a cpap machine will work for my severe apnea. The report indicates a pressure of 17 and recommends a cpap machine with humidifier and heated line. I really really want the Resmed S9 autoset with H5i and climate tubing. My doc has agreed to w...

Re: How should my doc write my RX?
I just thought of something else, supplies. How are supplies handled? Do I need a RX for monthly supplies? What usually happens here?
Thanks

Re: insurance won't pay for the sleep test
Check again with your insurance to see if they will pay for a home sleep test. They're sort of new to some insurance companies that they don't know much about them. My insurance covered the home test but couldn't even tell me where to go to for the test box. Google told me more than their own reps c...

How should my doc write my RX?
Hi, I'm still going through testing. I did a home sleep test which indicates severe OSA. Now I have to use the test company's data recording cpap to show that a cpap will help. My Doc, who is just a family med doc, wants to know what she needs to write on the prescription, if and when I qualify for ...

Re: Newbie with some questions
Thank you very much for the replies. It looks like the key factor will be "Dispense as Written". I just spoke to my insurance company and the rep told me that the equipment is covered 100% as medically necessary. Is it safe to say as long as my primary writes a RX for a Resmed S9 Autoset, Dispense a...

Newbie with some questions
Hi, I'm not really new to OSA. I was diagnosed about 12 years ago and at the time decided to go for surgery rather than a cpap machine. I'm 47 now but at the time when I was young(er) I had a uvulectomy and my deviated septum fixed. It worked temporarily. Maybe for a few years but my OSA is back ful...
