Re: Can melatonin help?!?!?
Having had undiagnosed sleep apnea for 10-15 years (looking back all the signs were there) I used melatonin help me to sleep but I wasn't getting good quality sleep. I called it "force quitting" as in forcing a computer to shut down! I took 1mg of melatonin each night for several years and it did he...

How often to have follow up visits?
I was wondering how often most sleep apnea patients have follow up visits with their sleep specialist once the intial studies are done and pressure problems, etc. are ironed out?

Re: What temp do you set for your heated humidifier?
I've found that 82 deg. works for me. Any less and I get a sore throat. I would prefer cooler air but then the humidity would be lower.

Re: UPPP and Nasal Pillow Mask
A little background about my pressure setting. My original sleep doctor prescribed 16cm for mild/moderate apnea and didn't even meet with me after my study to go over my results. She said I should just try cpap for a couple of months before she would see me again. Strangely enough she told me I coul...

UPPP and Nasal Pillow Mask
I've been on cpap for several weeks and I'm so glad I found this site as members' insights into this new way of life have been very helpful and reassuring. According to my sleep lab results, I have moderate sleep apnea. I'm sleeping much better since I've been on cpap. I'm using a Mirage Quattro ful...

Re: Does "Sleep Debt" really exist?
I've been on cpap for several weeks and right from the start I've been dreaming almost at a frantic pace and can remember my dreams quite clearly when I wake up. I find it almost an exhausting feeling dreaming so much but I am sleeping 8-9 hrs. per night. My sleep doc said the increased dreaming is ...

Re: Can melatonin help?!?!?
I've been taking melatonin (1mg) every night for the past several years. I get the chewable kind (peppermint) from Trader Joe's. I take it 20 min. before I go to sleep and it zonks me right out. I checked with my sleep doc and he said melatonin is ok to take and I read that it can have some health b...

Re: OT: How Strong is Aroma Scent Supposed to Be?
I'm glad I came across this thread about aromatherapy and cpap. I'm fairly new to cpap, just over a month now and still getting used to this new way of life. So, anything that can relax me a bit is good. Last night I tried a couple of drops of pure lavender oil on a cotton ball placed a couple of in...

Re: Pets and equipment
I have to be so careful with my mask as our kitty Teddy loves to chew on anything made from silicone (like the seals on my mask). My husband is in the plastics business and had a large bag full of various silicone sample parts that Teddy got into and he destroyed the lot. I usually wash my mask out ...
