Re: embarrised to ask....gas anyone?

Yep! For me it didn't start till about a month after I started using my Xpap. I also use nasal pillows. Saw a new doc, he asked me if I ever wake up with a dry mouth? I said sometimes. He told me to tape my mouth (which I do not recommend doing) till I got a chin strap. Both of these helped. I still...

Re: PR System One Resistance, Aflex and different masks. :(

Thanks Pugsy, The same humidifier settings with the hose cozy does make me more congested for what ever reason. I turned it down to 1 and that got rid of it. Going to try it tonight with no humidifier and see how it does. In the past I tried to have it set as high as possible to help warm the air up...

PR System One Resistance, Aflex and different masks. :(

I already did a search and found a graph from another post showing the system one resistance settings based off of PR masks. Its only been 114 days that I have been using a XPAP. I have used 3 different masks so far. Swift Nasal FX, Quattro FX and a ComfortSelect. With settings on my machine being t...

Re: Lost Power - The Plan Worked

I lost power the other night for about 4 minutes. I am curious why the sears jump start that AVI listed would not work on its own. Its has a 110v AC inverter built into it already. Can't you just plug your machine directly into the AC output of that and not waist the money on the DC adapter or am I ...

Re: Sick and frustrated with doctors.

Todzo, So when you say that APAP therapy might not be the best for me are you suggesting CPAP would work better? For over half the night last night my AHI was at zero with just a couple of events. However my pressure was between 6 and 8 during the time when it was at zero. This is a first but its al...

Re: Sick and frustrated with doctors.

True. PTSD in military veterans is more closely correlated with sleep apnea than severity of combat experience. Just listened to an online Q and A off of Dr Steven Parks website on PTSD, trauma and SBD. Don't know if its the chicken or the egg thing you know. Maybe they had some form of SBD and the...

Re: Sick and frustrated with doctors.

Jen, thanks for the advice and don't worry about being to wordy. My post often get pretty lengthy. I doubt that I will ever use a recorder but your idea to re listen to what they did say makes a lot of sense. I always have a mental list and even at times have made a written list when I am not in a f...

Re: Sick and frustrated with doctors.

Thanks everyone for the replies. John, I used to be a mechanic. Worked as one for several years. I only had one ever come back. When I was 13 my grandma's car had a starting issue for years that countless shops could never figure out. I was talking to our family chiropractor about it one day because...

Sick and frustrated with doctors.

So I am just needing to vent here. I have UARS. I have also suffered from GERD since I was 18. In 2002 I had an ulcer, then in 2004 I got a hiatal hernia. I have been on Proton pump inhibitors for 10 years. I had my gallbladder removed in June of this year because it was spastic and I had gallstones...

Re: SH and Encore basic can't read main Respironics SD card?

If you look at the card with windows, do you see directories and files on it? Nope. When you asked this it dawned on me that both of the SD card readers were not compatible with my the card that is in the machine. So I bought a new card reader and now I don't have an issue reading it. It must be a ...

SH and Encore basic can't read main Respironics SD card?

Here is the run down. The Respironics SD card that came with my machine I can not get EncoreBasic or SH to read. I have tried it on my work desktop which has XP pro and my laptop that has Vista home. I put it in the reader and try either program and both programs will lock up and end up locking up t...

Chin strap with Swift FX?

Anybody using a chin strap with a Swift FX nasal pillow? I am opening my mouth some which is causing quite a bit of aerophagia. Any suggestions as to which one would work best.

Thanks, Chris

Re: Anxiety Meds and OSA

Good luck! Effexor withdrawals for me were a nightmare even with 3 month of slowly lowering my dosage. While I was on it, it cause sleep paralysis for me. However I did have undiagnosed UARS for years. XPAP has been more effect for treating my anxiety and panic attacks than any medication I have tak...

Re: What are the requirements for an OSA diagnosis?

Yes, I check it frequently. My AHI is generally below 1 so I don't believe that's the issue. My awakenings are nowhere near my events timewise so I don't know what's going on. I'm going to keep using it until someone tells me it's not working lol.....even though I'm pretty sure it's not. I was on c...

Re: What are the requirements for an OSA diagnosis?

Is apap working for you? Frequent arounsals/awakenings are an issue for me, Apap for the last couple weeks with no relief. I've only been using it for 36 days now. Yes its been a Godsend! My fight or flight system became so overly active for so many years while I was sleeping I became a basket case...
