Have you considered a segmented sleep explanation that sirniddinoff suggested? I was fascinated when I read Roger Ekirch's At Day's Close: Night In Times Past.

I also have ambivalent feelings about this forum. I don't understand the snarksters and would hate to be bullied by them. But the majority of the people here function as a mutual aid society and I appreciate the sense of community we have among us.

Do unused masks deteriorate with time? Get brittle, turn yellow?cosmo wrote:

How long should a mask last.
How do you know when a mask is worn out? I've been using one for three months and it seems fine. How long can I expect it to last?

Re: What to expect during summer months?
I do have a 10,000 BTU portable room unit I bought last year at costco for about $350. No central AC unfortunately. Way overkill for the space so I should be all prepared http://content.costco.com/Images/Content/Product/506214.jpg This is really bizarre but I was just thinking of one of those last ...

http://www.aasmnet.org/Resources/clinicalguidelines/040515.pdf Sleep hygiene is a topic of interest to me. For all the mentions of experts and scientific evidence, these clinical guidelines are the only peer reviewed evidence offered in this thread. But when You read the guidelines carefully there ...

Thanks! I didn't know there were hybrid masks. I will even be able to wear gasses and read while using it.

Need FFM recommendations
After the usual newbie problems I've found a nasal pillow mask that works well. The aloha is comfy and it has no leaks. I've learned that it's prudent to have a FFM on hand for congested times. I don't know how to choose. Are there any aloha users out there who have also found FFM that fits? I only ...

Re: How was your OSA/CSA discovered?
I was hospitalized for shortness of breath and poor endurance. It was at the level of sitting upright in a chair all night and strategizing how to get the breath to go pee. After many tests and ruling out this and that it came down to asthma and sleep apnea. I understood the asthma diagnosis from fa...

Re: Looking for Provent- again
I use Provent when traveling. No problems with adherence. But I have dry skin. It works with nose breathing. Easy in and restricted out. It is hard if I think about it but gets easy as soon as I relax. I'm usually annoyed by the adhesive in the morning but the stress of traveling with cpap puts that...
