Re: How to battle the dreaded throat tickle?
I use a throat spray. Either Equate or Chloraseptic brand. A saline spray up each nostril, followed by just enuff Propel or Gatorade to wet the mouth then followed by a spray or two of the throat spray. All kept right at bedside. When the dry mouth wakes me up another small sip of the drink and bac...

How to battle the dreaded throat tickle?
I've had a CPAP machine for a while now, but have never gotten used to it and have battled (and abandoned it) off/on the whole time (about 4 years). I am a lifelong mouth breathing sleeper who sleeps on his side, so I eventually abandoned the nasal pillows and went with the FFM. I am again attemptin...

Re: new CPAP user, issue with sudden air in mouth waking up
Just a quick update. After the first night my jaw was sore from the chin strap, but it hasn't bothered me since. The strap seems to work wonders too and I am able to sleep for a larger chunk at night with it on. I am still only wearing the mask for about 5 hours a night, but I think it is getting be...

Re: new CPAP user, issue with sudden air in mouth waking up
No luck last night with the tongue trick (I am sure it just takes practice). I am getting a strap now to see if that will work. I have 30 days to switch masks supposedly, so I want to get this figured out before too long so I can go with a full-mask if that is the only way it will work for me.

Re: new CPAP user, issue with sudden air in mouth waking up
Thanks for the responses. I guess I said the air was entering my mouth because it is from my throat, but then it is leaving going past my lips, so I guess it depends on where you are standing I might need to look into the chin strap, because I am not having any problem while laying down before falli...

new CPAP user, issue with sudden air in mouth waking up
I am a new CPAP user (1 week) and still haven't made it a full night with the mask on. I am using the nasal pillows and have gotten used to the setup, but my problem is that it appears once I fall asleep I must be opening my mouth (I was a mouth breather) and I am getting a sudden blast of air into ...
