Re: apnea - just diagnosed - effect on marriage
As a young married couple everything is about getting to know each other better and communication. You are going through enough with getting this diagnosis, having to adjust to sleeping with a mask and other issues. I can guarantee that I was angry as heck when they told me I had apnea. I had major ...

Re: What do you do with your old masks?
None of mine have yet failed but when they do or when the cushions or hoses go, the old worn out ones will go back to the manufacturer with a note asking them to recycle the plastic. Patients need to start demanding more accountability from the manufacturers. Either make the parts from easily recyc...

Re: What do you do with your old masks?
I did some checking and the entire mask/hose is replaced every 6 months, the nasal pillows every 3 months. The headgear is usually every 3 months because I have found the hooks break on the Pilairo strap or they get stretched and don't fit as tight. My insurance pays for many of these items to be re...

What do you do with your old masks?
My DME replaces my masks, hoses and head gear every 3 months. I definitely keep the straps as they tend to break. The hoses I have been washing and sterilizing to put away in case something happens. What does anyone else do with their headgear that is left over?

Re: I am a little "cynical".....
If this mask isn't working don't be afraid to try a different one. I went through 3 different ones in the beginning before I found one that worked for me. You typically have that option in the first 30 days to try different ones. My DME was great anytime I called him and described what was happening...

Re: Help how do you avoid rain out when in a warmer climate?
Thanks everyone! My cpap is lower than the bed that is for sure. I think because the room was cool that the moisture was building up in my mask as I have a Pilairo mask. I adjusted the humidity to 2 and that seems to be helping. Someone said to not use the humidifier however when you have Sjogrens, ...

Help how do you avoid rain out when in a warmer climate?
Hi everyone, I thought I'd turn to everyone for some sage words of advice. I'm in Florida right now for a class and will be here until the 17th. I'm having a hard time adjusting the humidifer to a point where I can stand it. I don't have an air conditioner at home so this is getting even harder for ...

Re: F & P Pilairo nasal pillows - does the sore nose diminish ov
Hi I use the Pilairo as well and did have some minor irritation on my right nostril. It took about a week to clear up. The only thing I did was keep it clean and still used my mask. It eventually went away. I hope you get a chance to use it again.

Re: Upcoming surgery
I am a week post-op now. I am still in plenty of pain. Went and saw my ENT today and he said everything is going good with my recovery so far. I am able to wear my CPAP when sleeping. My pressures before surgery were 17-20, now I have it set on 6-12 and logs are showing median pressure is running a...

Re: My stubborn boyfriend just hates his cpap mask!
I couldn't stand the over the head straps, or the ones that went around my ears. I have changed to a Pilairo nasal pillow mask that only goes around the back of my head. The anger is normal because it is an adjustment. He needs to come talk to the newbies and the seasoned people on this site as well...

Thanks for the suggestions everyone! My ENT told me to start rinsing immediately and it has helped unfortunately I did have to go on the antibiotics because I am due to have surgery on my soft palate and tonsils Thursday. I do feel much better though and will keep all of these suggestions in mind. M...

Sinus infection and CPAP
Hi everyone, So how do you survive a sinus infection and use your CPAP? I have one that snuck up on me over the weekend. When I tried to reach my sleep therapist I got the only on-call guy that wasn't a respiratory therapist this weekend. I'm not sure whether to turn the humidity up, leave it low or...

Re: Nosebleeds and CPAP
Definitely let the sleep specialist know about the bloody noses. The one that was in my study, even though they never put it on me, had a humidifier. I know that if I had developed any problems the night person would have taken me right down to the Emergency Room so it is important to let them know ...

Re: Upcoming surgery
Hi Cybergoon, Please keep us posted as I am having a tonsillectomy and soft palate reduction on November 7th. My ENT said I would need about 10 days for recovery as you have a sore throat. I had the turbinate reduction done earlier this year and it wasn't too bad. I have already started buying broth...
