Re: How do you deal with a head cold
I take a nighttime decongestant and put a cotton ball dipped in Vicks near the air intake of the machine - crank up the humidity and use a full face mask.

Re: Multiple Wake Ups... Can it be fixed? Any Experiences?
I'm relatively new to this as well and I am struggling with waking up quite a few times during the night as I did before I started CPAP. I wonder if our bodies are just so used to the cycle of waking up that we need to relearn how to sleep. My AHI was 60 before too - we were waiting up once a minute...

Re: Can I adjust my own pressures?
I think that you will see that many people on this forum tweak their pressure a bit, myself included. My prescription - straight CPAP is 15. I'm new to this whole thing and can't cope with the full 15 pressure yet - so I'm working my way slowly up. I have a pretty great DME who showed my how to chan...

Re: Can't Handle the Pressure!!
Good point archangle! Yes it is set to autostart and yes the pressure ramps up at 3am, I guess I took my mask off and then put it back on 1/2 hour later!! I'm going to have to glue it to my head! I feel awful this morning again and my AHI was 6.6 last night. I will look at my graphs after work - thi...

Re: Can't Handle the Pressure!!
Below is last night's sleepyhead graph (not sure what happened around 3am - I don't remember taking the mask off. I had horrible dreams the last two nights as well - maybe more REM sleep? ReadyForRest, thank you so much for sharing your Ontario experience! I am going to get in touch with the sleep cl...

Re: Can't Handle the Pressure!! (new problems!!)
Okay so last night the machine was set at 11.6cm again, with the ramp starting at 9cm for 20 minutes...I had no problem falling asleep and YAY this morning AHI 1.1!!! BUT I feel like I'm going to explode this morning - my stomach is bloated and painful and I am very (ahem) gassy I'm assuming that th...

Re: So Upset about the Cpap
I understand what you are saying about being embarrassed, I was too and I think it comes from the stigma that if you have sleep apnea it is because you aren't fit, don't eat right, exercise, blah blah blah. That just isn't true but sadly there isn't enough knowledge out there so people just judge. I...

Re: Can't Handle the Pressure!!
I set the pressure to 11.6cm last night (EPR at 3), Ramp from 9cm for 20 minutes, seemed okay (although I had a dream that I was filling up with air!!). My AHI was 4.4 this morning so a big improvement. I will keep it at this pressure for a few days and keep an eye on the number and inch up slowly i...

Can't Handle the Pressure!!
Hello all! Had my titration study last night and my visit to the DME today to get my machine. Two things: 1 My new prescription is 15cm (have been on a trial of 9 for the last 3 weeks) 2 The loaner machine that they gave me (S9 Autoset), I cannot have - long storty short - script is for CPAP only, t...

Re: Worst titration experience EVER!!
Well made it through the second test with no fires! And Char1ieJ I did ask for a non-smoking room this time!! Turns out my pressure of 9 was not enough, like we all thought. My new prescription is 15, this could take some getting used to! Well after a restless night, I'm off to my first day at a new...

Re: Worst titration experience EVER!!
They called me this morning and rescheduled for tonight (I think they bumped someone but at this point I don't care!!) We'll see how this goes - anymore fires I will be asking to get sent somewhere else!!
And as my family says....It would ONLY happen to me!!

Worst titration experience EVER!!
So I tuck the little ones into bed and off to the sleep center I go. They have three people in for studies tonight. I wait an hour and then it's my turn, get all hooked up and taped up (do they REALLY need to sandpaper my legs raw?!!). The other patients take their time getting into bed and finally ...

Re: About to purchase my CPAP machine-Questions
OHIP will pay $780 towards your machine. My quote for the RESMED S9 machine was almost $1800 for the machine, humidifier, hose etc. I think they also include a basic mask and some other stuff like mask wipes. My out of pocket after OHIP pays will be about $1000. If you have health insurance through ...
