Sleep study results. translate if you would!

This was taken from my titration study. If anyone can translate, please feel free. I'd like to unerstand more of what was seen and how bad it was. Thanks! "Sleep data demonstrated that the patient had reduced sleep efficiency of 85.9. The sleep latency was 48.00 min which is prolonged. The patient's...

Re: Choking when falling asleep

update: I got a hotel room for the power outage. huge king size bed, cold air conditioning, and some nice pillows. I sat sleeping with a good incline with 3 or 4 pillows and had an AHI in the morning of 0.1 - I think the elevation helped with the nice sleep results. I have a lot of energy today and ...

Re: Bariatric surgery to end all this nonsense?

As a note - I'm considered obese as well. I'm 6'0 and 235. I just started long distance biking and it's helping with the weight. It's very low impact, lots of fun, and great exercise. I got a heart rate monitor / watch combo and i keep the ticker between 160 and 170 for hours at a time. I just punch...

Re: Choking when falling asleep

So got a 30 mile bike ride in over the weekend. The next mornign had an AHI of .7. Today, I woke up to 4.8 - ugh. I went to bed at 1:00AM and I am under a lot of stress right now too. I'm sure it's related. OH, and get this - the power company is cutting power for "maintenace" tonight from 1:00AM to...

Re: Choking when falling asleep

Well, I think i'm on day 7. Only got 4.9 hours of sleep last night. Woke up early for me, and couldn't get back to sleep. I had an AHI of 2.8 which is my highest yet. Not sure what the problem was....could be that I was up late gaming and I think I had food too late. That maybe affecting GERD issues...

Re: A Firefighter in Need of Help Part 2

Sup brotha. I'm new to this as well and suffer from the anxiety of falling alseep too. It seemed to starta bout 2 months ago, but once your body knows that there are issues when sleeping, I think your brain subconciously prepares you to do something about it. You are, so that's good. you may be expe...

Re: Choking when falling asleep

Another update: Had a bad night the other night though. Soon as I started falling asleep, I had that feeling of no O2. I would then gasp awake. I think it was a definite Central episode. It freaked me out of course, then I got insomnia, then I was up til 6 am. (I took a 2.5 hour nap that day so I wa...

Re: Choking when falling asleep

Like others have mentioned on this forum, my Dr. sees me for 5 minutes at a time (bills at over 300 for an hour) and generally seemed annoyed that I was even in his office. I'm waiting for my sleep study results and then I'll probably shop around for another Doctor. I have a feeling I'll get much mo...

Re: Choking when falling asleep

All, On an additional note. I'm not 100% sure this is related, but I've suffered from heart palpitations since I was a kid. I always feel them....like every one of them. Sometimes it's like someone kicks me in the chest and i feel a LUB LUB or like a heart heartbeat and for a brief moment I cough, t...

Re: Choking when falling asleep

Day 3: Had to travel with the S9 unit. I drove 7 hours from Phoenix to LA. So far, not bad. Setup and breakdown isn't bad. I only had 5.9 hours of sleep, but I literally closed my eyes and woke up with the alarm. AHI was .5 on night number three. I've found that when I take the mask off in the morni...

This forum has Apnea

I counted at least two Obstructive Apneas on this forum over the last couple of days. It was clear that the patient lost all oxygen and was completely out for LONG periods of time. I would reccomend increasing the PRESSURE to keep the patient ALIVE. That is all.

Re: Choking when falling asleep

Night #2: AHI 1.51 I had 2 Obstructive Apnea events at 3:00AM and 6:00AM. Flow rate flat lined for about 11 seconds. I do toss and turn a lot, so I'm wondering if that is when i'm going from my back to my side or vice-versa. I always seem to take deep breaths too. 12 second apneas I'm wondering are ...

Re: Choking when falling asleep

I think I do have GERD. I haven't had acid in my mouth for a long time, but I belive i do have it and I'm on Prylosec twice a day. I just started that about 5 days ago. Here are some interesting charts from my data. Typical Clear Airway Events: http://img607.imageshack.us/img607/3064/capturepfqg.jpg...

Re: Choking when falling asleep

Good info. I have now been researching that as well. I'll have to give this a couple of weeks to see how I do. The choking at night is very scary. I slept great during the sleep study #2. I'm waiting for the results of that study now. I should get them by next week. I just loaded up my stuff into Sl...
