Re: Two related full face mask problems

Other, strange thought. Have you considered putting vaseline on your front teeth? Crazy, but it might work. I have, actually. I had the jar in my hand with a goofy top-toothed grin before I saw the "external use only" warning on the label, which scared me off. I had heard of girls doing that in bea...

Re: Two related full face mask problems

Thanks everyone. I'll look into these suggestions. The Quattro FX is often derided for its lack of forehead arm (supposedly resulting in more leaks), but after trying more than one mask with forehead arms, the FX has always leaked less for me--both with the looser ("proper") DME-adjusted fittings, a...

Two related full face mask problems

Hiya! I have a Quattro FX mask, same type I've had for the past couple years. I've tried other masks (various FFM, nasal cushion), but the Quattro FX seems to work the best for me. Still, I have a couple of minor, but nagging issues: I frequently get leaks just under the bridge of my nose on the sam...

Aerophagia? Pressure too low? (Graphs)

In the past 2-3 weeks, I've been waking up with very significant lower abdominal pain. My belly's physically distended, rock hard, and my day now usually starts by going into the bathroom and fffffffffffaaaaaaarting for about 20 minutes. No belching. I slept 10 hours without the machine last night, ...

Re: Cat hair!

I wonder if *this* might be the culprit. Could a dry tissue cause static, thus pulling in any stray cat hairs? You might be right, although I started doing this wipe because of the cat hair. Good point about the static, though. I'll try the tissue a little damp. I just don't like to trap a lot of m...

Re: first night with CPAP

My S9 does the pulsing thing, too, if I'm not breathing. What kind of mask do you have? If you're having problems with mouth opening (assuming you're not using a full face mask..), you can try a chin strap, or even just try your luck with a FFM. Speaking personally, here, I got my FFM because of a s...

Re: Cat hair!

Ha! Lots of pets in the profile pictures. Clearly you have all walked the walk. Thanks for the replies. I'll look into the inline filter, maybe even replace the outside filter for good measure. I'm just heading to sleep now, but I'll post a graph after I come to. I can't imagine how they are getting...

Re: Mask removal in the night... UGH

Taping never worked for me. My skin really doesn't like any kind of tape, medical or otherwise.I struggled a bit in the very beginning, but within a month or two it was a rare occurrence indeed to wake up without my mask on. A few things I learned the hard way that helped me though: Put the mask on ...

Cat hair!

I have a Quattro FX FFM, and four cats. Need I say more? Perhaps not, but here goes anyway: The mask fits snugly, no leaks to speak of. I wipe it with vinegar/water every time I get up, give it + the hose a full clean once a week or so, and store it in a covered box when I'm not wearing it (still at...

Re: Humidifier cost help!

Update!

I ordered the humidifier from clinicalsleep.com (their toll-free number, actually), and had a good experience with them. Only took a few days to get here, and was 2/3 the cost locally. Many thanks for this and the other great info in this thread.

Re: Humidifier cost help!

Ok, I'll check out the place in Vancouver, and good to confirm that cpap.com is still an option. And if the H5i doesn't pan out for some reason, the F & P one Pugsy recommended looks like a good option, too. I can't think of anything that you could do to fix up a DIY humidifier other than setting a ...

Humidifier cost help!

I (desperately) need a humidifier, but can't afford the $360 my DME wants for the H5i (I have an S9). Insurance will not pay for a humidifier at all. I'm in Canada. It looks like I could order online from the US and maybe save $100-150 or so (depending on duty/taxes). Better, but the 2-3 week shippi...

Re: A new source of leaks

Good ideas. History says my cat is not easily repelled (he is convinced he is not a cat, and is therefore immune to such primitive deterrents), so I think I'll go straight to the chomp-proof hose wrap. Should at least slow him down a little.

Re: move image from paint to here?

If you already have the image in Paint, you're halfway there. In Paint, just click Save (from the file menu, or the disk icon, or Ctrl-S), make sure JPEG (.jpg) is your file type, click Desktop on the left side, give it a name, and click the Save button on that window. Presto. After that, Step 2 is ...

Re: Newbie vs the Facehugger

Wow, I'm so sorry you're going through all of that. I've had several failed (and hence, repeated) sleep studies due to those stupid wires and sensors. People are very particular about how they sleep, and anything foreign, especially if it's perceived as some kind of threat to physical safety, will s...
