Opus 360 gear padding
I have an Opus 360 that I have used, and loved, for about a year. The only issue I have is the foam padding on the cheek straps slides around. It is still stuck, but it seems like the skin oil seeps thru the foam and makes the adhesive slide around. Every night I have to slide the foam back into pos...

Re: lose-weight-before-trying-cpap-sleep-apnea-treatments
My sleep doc answered that question with" Even if you were in olympic trim you would still have floppy airways" when I tried to avoid the hose. Now after being on it for a year I'm still fat, but not in danger of all the things we are too familiar with. I really like how my Doc thinks.

Re: Clear Airway vs Obs Airway question
Thanks Todzo - reading you post, I think I can attribute this to a combination of starting a weight loss program, and being bothered by spring allergies. It looks like the data may be somewhat inconclusive; about half of the CA events had volume increases right before. The other half appear to have ...

Clear Airway vs Obs Airway question
My AHI's have been climbing over the past few weeks. I was averaging AHI about 2-3 each night. Over the past 2 weeks I have climbed to 5-7 AHI. On Sleepyhead the breakdown seems to be more CA's than OA's. Night before last my OA was less than 1, but CA's put me up to AHI 5.6. I'm using an Opus360, w...

Re: Puff 'n' Suck Phenomenon
Respironics machine uses the pulses to determine OA, or CA events. Mine does it all the time when there is no respiratory effort for around 5 to 7 seconds. It is the normal function of the System 1 machine, not a problem. It is totally impossible for the machine to suck air bac the tubing. It is a c...

Re: Very new to CPAP and ready to give up...mask uncomfortable
Congratulations! It is amazing how little the DMEs actually know about fitting and using a mask in real life. AMEN!!!! Most DME's carefully leave out the part that most new masks are returnable for the users first 30 days too, mine did! My DME also didn't even measure using the Respironics fitting ...

Re: Using Nasal Pillow for first time
Welcome to the forum mrstay....the are some real xPAP experts here, so ask away! (I'm a newbie too, but learning) I switched from a nasal mask to pillows on November 1st,(2012). This has been the best thing I did yet, my data has been very good. I run BPAP at 11/17 with less leak than the mask. I ha...

Re: Any one heard about nasopharyngeal tube to treat OSA?
I'm a certified EMT also. Just wondering about this myself. I have no idea how uncomfortable the nasopharyngeal airways are. I imagine they're rather unpleasant. Anyway, if I had a convenient source, I might try it just to see what it was like. I don't see myself traveling with my CPAP machine when...

Re: I have been told I was wrong..
Folks, unless your a real windbag there is almost no way exhaled air gets back to the machine - because of the pressure. Exhaled air is "flushed" out the mask vents, not back down the hose to the machine. If it did there would have to be some sort of exhaust port on the machine - otherwise where doe...

Re: Operating on DC while camping
OK, here is the math that one needs to calculate how long something runs on the battery: Lets start with the 200watt inverter - not that I'm advocating it here, since the Respironics power supply is a switcher, and probably wont like the MSW power. All of the inverter calculations assume a max 200 w...

Opus 360 and higher pressures
My DME thinks my pressure is too high to be comfortable with a nasal pillow device. I think I want to try an Opus 360, I have had real good reults with the Respironics Easy Life Nasal. I'm at 17 in and 11 out - anybody out there using a 360 with pressures like that?

Re: Quack sleep center doc's bill
I feel so lucky (Blessed) to be in the Erie Pa area. My Seep Doc/Center could not be better. I did finally meet the Dr himself this week after being on BiPAP for 2 months, but his PA is also very good. The sleep study tech was also really good. Hit the titration right on with one session. My DME I t...

Re: Anyone here on Testosterone Therapy?
I'm on Androgel for low T. I don't think it worsened my Apnea - I wish I'd had the sleep study done about 5 years ago! I've been on Androgel about 2 years ans haven't noticed/tested with any side effects - other than the expected

Re: Anyone using the Easy Life Nasal Mask Phillips Respironics?
I have been using the Easy Life for about 5 weeks (I started out with it when the machine was new). I have had really good luck with it. About the 3rd morning I woke up and thought I had taken the mask off, until I heard the CPAP kick up the pressure on inhale. Felt kinda dumb when I realized I just...

Question on Easy Life Nasal mask
Wow, my first post to the experts... I have been using this mask since starting my Bipap journey a month ago. The mask generally is great, test AHI was 105, sleepyhead puts me at 5.26, and I feel great. The one complaint I have is that the mask seems too wide at the bridge of my nose, it feels like ...
