Re: allergies preventing me from wearing cpap

I have seasonal allergies too and have found relief with a filter that goes on the outflow of the CPAP. My dr prescribed it because it traps pollen, etc in addition to bacteria. This is what I use: https://www.cpap.com/cpap-filters/bacteria-cpap-filter-covers.php. It doesn't seem to limit the airflo...

Re: Why do turbinates swell at night?

If you think it might be allergies, you might try this filter: https://www.cpap.com/productpage/Respironics-in-line-outlet-filter-bacteria-cpap-bipap-5-pack.html Its bliss for me to sleep 8 hours a night allergen free! My doctor prescribed it for me so Medicare covers it. Its not expensive to buy on...

Re: Where Can I Find A Tutorial On How To Read Encore Data?

On the waveform data sheets there is a color code that shows what the different marks mean. Once color is for obstructive apnea, another for hypopnea, etc. If you see many marks for apneas or hypopneas in a short period of time, try to think back to the night to decide if you were asleep or awake at...

What are other effective treatment for centrals? I'm glad I just have obstructive sleep apnea and cpap works for me, seems easy in comparison.

Re: Sleepweaver Elan question

Thanks Chunky for the picture, I would never have figured out what you were talking about any other way! I'll give this a try. When I have the hose strap that they provide attached to the headgear it tends to pull the whole mask up when I move around in bed. With your set-up the hose could be free l...

Re: Sleepweaver Elan question

I did speak with Kathy from Sleepweaver by phone and she pointed out the air holes to me and I do feel a bit of air coming out but as Chunky said, that's nothing in comparison to the amount coming out by my eyes. While I don't worry that I'm rebreathing air, I do wonder if more exhaust would help wi...

Sleepweaver Elan question

On my Sleepweaver elan I can't feel any air coming out of the exhalation holes. Is this normal? I'm having trouble with leaking and wonder it that may be part of the problem.

Any other suggestions for the leaking? ( have watched the video several times)

Re: The med. establishment mess: thyroid and "adrenal fatigue"

I suffered with Hashimoto thyroid disease for nearly 30 years until I found a doctor who treated it properly. During the 30 years my doctors tested only TSH and said that my thyroid wasn't causing my problems it was fibromyalgia, or chronic fatigue and of course often it was put off as my poor handl...

Re: I Can't Use My Nasal Pillows With a Cold

I caught a cold after only a couple weeks on CPAP too. I had to trade in my nasal pillow mask for a full face mask at my DME. I was able to get a Swift FX too after my cold so now I have both available to use as needed. Too bad insurance won't pay for two masks right away as I think many people are ...

Re: Is it ok to skip a few days a week?

If possible, get the software that goes with your CPAP and watch what happens to apneas and hypopneas when you've been drinking. I have found that if I have a glass of wine or even two with dinner (about 3 hours before bedtime) that it doesn't seem to affect my numbers at all. I'm not recommending n...

Re: clouds in my chamber picture

Since the water most likely isn't causing the problem, how about the vinegar? Vinegar isn't considered to be nearly as effective a disinfectant as chlorine bleach. Food service establishments use bleach or the equivalent to disinfect dishes, never vinegar. Could the clouds be something other than ba...

Re: Let's go "Inside the Numbers..." for a Good Nights Sleep

I look more for the number of hours when I slept without an episode of any sort. The raw numbers include events while going to sleep or waking up and skew the numbers. If I see many hours of good sleep, I'm not as concerned about the number of apneas and hypopneas, although I wouldn't want that numb...

Re: clouds in my humidifier TELL ME HOW TO UPLOAD PICS

I was emptying my humidifier every day and letting it sit in the bathroom to air dry. I finally realized that's about the worst place to leave it! Now I empty every 3 or 4 days and bring it back to my bedroom to dry..... cleaner environment for sure. Lysol is a good mold inhibitor but you'll want to...

Re: i'd like to run my respironics system 1 560 apap as a cpap

The instructions for this machine are in two parts, one booklet for the consumer and the other is a provider booklet. That is the booklet you need to set your machine. Someone may be able to point you to a place where you can download the provider booklet. If not, you can PM me and I'll refer to my ...
