How do I know I when need replacement parts?

I read and hear CPAP parts (Hose, mask, flap, cushion, headgear, etc.) are replaced every 3-6 months. Why? How do I know when, and which parts need replacement? Other than broken, torn, leaking, obvious things of course. I'm most interested in knowing when (and why) to replace mask parts. Thanks!

Re: Introduction - Newbie here...

Hey Charlie - Welcome to HoseHeadWorld! Been one for a few months. IMHO mask fit is paramount. And while one may fit well/feel ok when not attached, when and IF your CPAP pressure goes above 15, mask fit is a different thing altogether. I went through the FX - and (pardon me) but the head in your av...

I use cheap bandaids - and they work for me.

Size DOES matter!

I’ve been a hosehead now for 41 nights. 100% compliance, every night, all night. There have been a handful of really good nights – but most were just o.k. While I’m certainly no expert, I do believe I’ve found the 5 components necessary for successfully combating sleep apnea. My sleep testing indica...

Re: Where do you put your xpap?

IMHO – I’ve been a HoseHead for almost 30 days now. My xPAP is on a metal table (one of those with a cutout design that probably had a glass top in a previous life) which is 14” below the surface of my bed. My hose runs up through the headboard and is attached to my CPAPmax pillow. The instructions ...

Re: How about an Equipment Review Section

FWIW - I've now been on auto-CPAP 22 nights. (yes, I've used it every night, all night) MY tested AHI of 63 is down around 4.6.I used the Quattro FX (full-face- large) for the first 2 weeks, then switched to the ComfortGEL Blue Full-Face (XL), because the Fx rode up to, and dug into, my eyes. I star...

How about an Equipment Review Section

Got my PR ComfortGel Blue Dull Face mask yesterday and while it's much better than my Quattro Fx, the bridge of my nose is red and sore this morning. I jumped on CPAP.com to (1) Read the reviews to find out how others have dealt with the sore-nose-bridge issue & (2) Contribute my observations which ...

Re: FWIW - Best/worst night Quattro Fx & CPAPMax

Hoooorayyy - my ComfortGel Blue Full came today. Size XL. The headgear isn't marked (or I haven't found it yet) - and although I haven't hooked it to the machine yet, I have tried it on - and it's already much more comfortable than the Fx.

I'll post the 1st night's impressions in the morning.

FWIW - Best/worst night Quattro Fx & CPAPMax

I put the "spacer" 3/4" foam back in the pillow and turned it to the Fiber Fill side on Tuesday. Since my ComfortGel Blue FullFace is still in shipping, I strapped on my Quattro Fx Full and went to bed at 9:00 p.m. Around 2:00 a.m., I hit the bathroom, washed my face, put the mask back on, and went ...

Re: Humidification system question?

Well, I did some surfin' and found in the promo for the device that the 560 is the "new" and it does measure room humidity when the System One Humidity is "on", then adjusts the heating plate to produce what you want. BUT - In the same promo for here (CPAP.com) for the humidifier, I found the settin...

Comfort & Pillow Height/Firmness

Just a personal observation - FWIW I spent the last 3 nights on a CPAPMax pillow from Contour. It felt very good although it's much firmer and a tad taller than my pre-CPAP memory foam pillow. Last night I removed the 3/4" center piece of foam. BIG mistake (for me)! It became much softer than I woul...

Humidification system question?

For the DS560HS - No heated tube - How does the huidifier work? Doesn't it just raise & lower the heater temp? Does it measure the room's relative humidity? With a setting of 4, in my air-conditioned bedroom, I almost empty the water tank - so it would seem that if I were to raise the setting I'd em...
