Re: How to find a helpful DME

Was diagnosed 3 months ago. Tried Opus 360 nasal pillows and had very hard time adjusting to CPAP in general. DME never told me about switching masks within 30 days. I had my dr write me a script "that it was medically necessary for me to get another mask" so I got the Swift FX and used it half a ni...

Re: Newbie with questions!

My sleep doctor finds in his practice that 2/3 of his barriatric patients dont need the cpap machine when they lose a drastic amount of weight. That is very encouraging to me. Will I be one of the 2/3? hope so... at least for now it is giving me hope to exericse and eat right. Being post-menopausal ...

Re: Why do people give up?

I've been on the CPAP for one month and been quite a struggle. I don't feel much better. Sleep for maybe an hour or two and wake up. Barely making the 4 hours. I'm trying to stick in there. May start some kind of therapy for CPAP adherence. It feels so unnatural. trying to get used to it. I keep mov...

Wondering if I should change from CPAP?

I've been on the CPAP machine for one month. I'm waking up every hour or two. Once I wake up - it's hard to just lay there with mask on -- I have to take the mask off. I've been desensitizing myself by watching tv with it before I go to sleep. I'm okay with the nasal pillows - anything more (nose or...

Re: OT:Losing weight- looking for weight loss buddies!

Hi Jennifer - I'm sending you an email now. My sleep dr told me that 2/3 of the patients he sees that have a dramatic weight loss no longer use the machine. Jeff--- I hope I'm one of them. You're right my goal shouldnt be to get off the machine -- that what seems to keep me going now. Been on machin...

Position to sleep in

I've been on CPAP Machine for about two weeks and having difficult time sleeping on my side. I keep waking up switching sides. Think I have some arthitis in hips. Wanted to know -- can you sleep on back with CPAP machine. I know it makes the apnea worse -- but if you are on the machine - does it mak...

Re: Especially for newly diagnosed - Dealing with Change

Tonight will be the third night using the mask. I had a terrible time with the sleep study - the first one and then the tritation. for the initial sleep study, I was given ambien, but due to my anxiety level , it didn't help me much. After two weeks with about 1 hour sleep a night, I was about to go...
