My data card isn't working right

Twice last night when I turned on my machine, it wouldn't start. Then I noticed there was a message saying card error and saying to return it. I took the card out and put it back in, and the machine started. But, it did this again when I took a bathroom break, and again this morning when I went to t...

I didn't see that this has been posted before, and I just found it today. It's a guide to interpreting the ResScan reports.

Re: Full Mask and chest discomfort.

Yes, I recall my chest being sore in the beginning of CPAP. It's fine now. (78 days). Since you have had heart surgery, I would suggest you talk to your doctors too; heart doctor and sleep apnea doctor. See what they say.

Re: How NOT to wash SleepWeaver Advance Cpap Mask

I've been washing my Advanced in Baby Shampoo daily since I started using it. I only use a tiny bit. Haven't had any problems with my mask. I have a full large bottle of it too. Guess I'll switch to our Ivory dishwashing detergent. I too don't like the strong smell of Tide. To the SleepWeaver rep: I...

Re: How long is a reasonable trial of CPAP?

I thought I slept well before I was diagnosed with severe sleep apnea too. I'd "sleep" for 8-10 hours a night. Only thing was that I know I woke up a lot, and I was still tired all the time. But, I had no idea that I had sleep apnea. I venture to say most people probably do not know. I consider myse...

Re: Newbie - Nasal Pillow is trying to crush my nose!

You may want to try a nasal mask (not pillows). I was a mouth breather too, but believe my mouth is staying closed more and more as I go. Many people say that your mouth can be trained to stay closed. I personally have no desire to try the nasal pillows at this time. I tried them briefly at the DME'...

Re: Can't sleep!!!

My first 3 weeks of CPAP, I would go to bed, feeling very tired, but as soon as I turned out the light, I was wide awake. I would lay awake for at least an hour. I kept listening to relaxation apps and talk radio shows to keep my mind off of the mask and air. By the 4th week, it was so much better, ...

Re: SleepWeaver Advance vs. Elan

I am a Sleepweaver advanced user. I absolutely love it. I tried the Elan, thinking it would be better because it was newer. I could not keep it from blowing air into my eyes. If I spring any leaks with the Advanced, I just slightly tug on the headgear that goes up from between the eyes, and it stops...

Re: Especially for newly diagnosed - Dealing with Change

Welcome to the forum, Renee. This is a great support source, with many caring people. I'm sure you will get lots of replies. First I'd like to say that you have a lot of painful issues right now. Adding the diagnosis of sleep apnea to it hasn't made it better for you, and you have a lot of anger. I ...

Re: SleepWeaver 'elan' Fabric is better than silicone

I had the Advanced first and really liked it, but wasn't fond of the headgear that goes up across the head. Then I found out that the Elan was newer, and didn't have that headgear piece. I was anxious to give it a try. I did give it a good try, and just couldn't stop it from blowing air into my eyes...

Re: Start the night okay, but wake up and can't stop leaks

First, you can download a template for that mask from the internet to check to see what the right size is for you. And, yes, liners are a big help. Also, others recommend putting on a thin layer of K-Y jelly or aloe vera gel, and letting it get tacky dry before putting on your mask. Sometimes when t...

Re: Sleeping on back

When you had your sleep study, did they have you sleep on your back for some of it? If your pressure was determined for sleeping on your back too, you're probably fine sleeping on your back. In my sleep study, I told them that I never sleep on my back, so they didn't test me sleeping that way, and I...
