Anyone had tonsils out?
My chest consultant suggested that my tonsils are large and this could be contributing to my sleep apnoea. So yesterday I saw a consultant ENT surgeon who confirmed they are large and said removal could help the apnoea, but isn't a guarrantee. He said that a tonsillectomy can make CPAP more effectiv...

Re: New and worried about driving licence
The good news is that the apnoeas have gone down to virtually zero! She said that my results were some of the best she has ever seen. So it looks like I have nothing to worry about. Hi, That is good news. Since you are a computer person, you need to get the SleepyHead software and start monitoring ...

Re: New and worried about driving licence
Well I have just come back from the hospital where they analysed the SD card in my machine. She said that I am using it for an average of 4:35 a night. The mask fit/leakage is not brilliant but it is still good enough to show theraputic benefits. The good news is that the apnoeas have gone down to v...

Re: New and worried about driving licence
SleepDepraved2 - I didn't realise you could get these things, I will discuss them at the hospital when I have my next follow up in 8 days, thanks. retrodave15 - interesting, thanks. Maybe quetiapine does not make my apnoea worse after all. As I said in my original post, I am using a pill splitter. I...

Re: New and worried about driving licence
I guess the problem is that I'm not sure if the difficulty sleeping is due to the mask, or the (lack of) quetiapine. South Kensington is 150 miles from me, so he isn't near. And he would probably be quite expensive - I get my treatment free locally from the NHS (National Health Service). Another thi...

Re: New and worried about driving licence
Thanks for the replies so far. Julie - you might be right about taking the mask off at dawn. I wake up and typically the pressure has increased and its blowing all over my face and the room is light since it is summer. However, maybe I have to work through this issue. Perhaps if I reset the machine,...

New and worried about driving licence
I have recently been diagnosed with severe sleep apnoea had my machine (I believe it is APAP) for a month now. The first night I couldn't manage it, the second night I struggled but persisted, and from then on I have used it every night. It has made a difference to my levels of daytime tiredness. Ou...
