Help! Keep taking mask off
Hi, Everyone -- I've been on the hose for about 3 months now. I wouldn't say things are perfect -- I do wish I were sleeping more soundly and not being disturbed by occasional leaks and hose-pulls -- but I thought I was doing reasonably well adjusting to everything. But in the last few weeks, I am w...

Re: Question About Apria and the 30 day mask warranties
When I exchanged a mask, my Apria rep said she was supposed to take back the old one. However, she went on to explain that she'd just have to throw it out. So, she instead offered to "pretend" to discard it, thereby allowing me to keep it.

Re: need help using cpap thru the whole night...
[ Picking a chin strap that can be work over the mask headgear may help with the other problem. Anything that makes removing the mask slightly more complicated may reduce the chances of being able to remove it without waking up. I was also taking off my nasal pillow mask during the night, in my sle...

Re: Considering a Fisher & Paykel Icon
Do yourself a favor, get a ResMed or Respironics machine. Better quality and MUCH more common and supported. Honestly, I think McDover gave you great advice. Plus, I checked out the Icon's specs on F&P's website, and it doesn't seem to have the expiration settings that I mentioned in my earlier pos...

Re: Considering a Fisher & Paykel Icon
I On the night of the diagnostic study I was allowed to try a CPAP. I felt like I couldn't exhale!!! I felt the panic people feel when they are not able to breathe. Scary. I have got to get a grip with this and am determined to adjust to it. Thanks in advance for any input. Others have already addr...

Is this what you were looking for? I just did a search for "pantyhose" and a number of different threads came up, so you might give that a try if this thread/picture doesn't work for you.

Re: Mask vent waking partner
I'm sort of Mr. "Rebreathing Parnoia" on this board, but I wouldn't have any qualms about wrapping one layer of T-shirt material or something like that around the vent area on the mask. Of course, if you do something like cover it with tape or wrap something non-porous around it, you're on your own...

Re: Where do you put your xpap?
I've only been using XPAP for a few months so admittedly am no expert. But no one instructed me not to keep the unit at or below bed-level. Because of the discussion in this thread, I just checked the Resmed user guides and they say nothing about this. The brochure produced by my DME (Apria) says no...

Re: Mask vent waking partner
I did some additional searches through previous posts and I guess the consensus is that it's not a good idea to block the exhaust holes.....even with a porous material. Like me, there are others that have done / are doing this and we're still alive to talk about it! But I'm sure there is a risk invo...

Re: Mask vent waking partner
I cut a strip from a spare filter that is used by my APAP machine and taped it loosely over the vent. The vent is important, so you don't want to block it completely, nor do you want to cover the filter completely in tape. But this definitely diffused the torrent of air, which was bothering both my...

Re: Pilairo!
Count me in as another person who returned the Pilario. My main problem was that the least bit of tension on the hose ended up pulling the pillows away from my face. If the the head strap were stronger/tighter, it probably would have held the pillows in place. I didn't want to start messing around w...

Re: Benefits of Surgery for Deviated Septum??
I had septioplasty and turbinate reduction surgery in March after years on cpap. It has been a game-changer for me. Zero sinus infections. Equal flow on both sides. Almost no congestion. No colds. CPAP is a dream compared to before. I wish I had done it years ago. I think this is the only truly eff...

Re: Benefits of Surgery for Deviated Septum??
My ENT wants to fix my septum and reduce my turbinates. I had to beg him to send me for a sleep study. When I went back to get my study results all he wanted to talk about was surgery. I'm not convinced yet to do it. My allergist isn't in favor of it. I'm keeping an open mind. Did your allergist ex...

Re: Benefits of Surgery for Deviated Septum??
Wow, it's rare that everyone agrees about any thing, so you all have me convinced this is the right thing to do. I do wish, however, that someone suggested that I don't watch a video of the surgery on YouTube. Yuk. Thanks to all of you for your comments and suggestions. I really appreciate it....mak...
