Re: mouth breathers with nasal masks
I'm a mouth breather when I don't use CPAP. When I use nasal pillows, I breath through my nose.

Re: Quattro Poll (Which is Best)
Nasal pillows are far and away the most comfortable.

Re: S9 Autoset Shutting Off
I think auto off is always enabled. If there is a large enough leak, the machine may think it's just blowing air and shut off. Not sure why it would restart on it's own if autostart is enabled (mine becomes unresponsive until I unplug it when I've taken the mask off in my sleep).

Re: waking up with a headache
Setting the humidifier higher helped with my dry mouth. I'm not sure if I was breathing through my mouth before or if setting it higher made it so I stopped breathing through my mouth, but it definitely helped the dryness.

Re: Decreased EPR = Decreased Clear Airways
I find an EPR of 3 is strictly a comfort thing to help you get used to the mask (though setting EPR inhale to fast helps at the expense of comfort -- it feels like someone is jamming something up my nose). A setting of 2 works fairly well and a setting of 1 works very well (at least for me).

Re: 6 Days on CPAP
Nice to read! It helps give hope. I may be starting down this path, and I read of so many problems, it is good to read some success stories. CPAP therapy is all about attitude. If you approach it with the right attitude, it will work for you. It is something like giving up smoking. If you truly are...

Re: Supreme Court and the Individual Mandate
My health insurance premiums have gone up $150 per month since the passage of this law (and yes, the law was used as the excuse). This after losing a large portion of my income due to the economy and having to move to a much more expensive area. I have never had a problem with coverage for pre-exist...

Re: Newbie - which auto CPAP machine?!
I have tried CPAP 3 times over the last 15 years. The S9 Auto is the first machine that has actually worked for me. The first machine back in the 90s was a complete failure (I just wanted surgery and the mask was horrible). The second (Respironics REMStar M series with built in humidifier) almost wo...

Re: cpap sucks
If you aren't dedicated you won't be successful and it will always suck, and so will your quality of life. I've found turning this thing in to a hobby has helped (i.e. the data aspects, tweaking to perfection, etc.).

Re: I don't move enough during sleep
Perhaps it's time to look in to a bed you don't need to toss and turn in to avoid discomfort in the morning.

Re: Supreme Court and the Individual Mandate
Romney pioneered Obamacare. Socialist medical care may not be the answer but after dealing with numerous DMEs who want to overcharge for junk, neither is a capitalist solution. I think it would help if small companies could legally group together to get insurance rates that compared to the rates lar...
