O/T Prescription needed for biofeedback? Why?

I'm kind of interested in biofeedback as a method for tension headache prevention. Although I thought most people do sessions through a "provider" (oh, how I hate that word), I assumed you *could* just buy a machine and read the instructions. This doesn't seem to be the case. Anybody have the scoop ...

Re: Changed Pressure 6-7-8 Still a struggle?

Please provide any useful comments to what you see here. I have been moving up the base pressure from it's original Rx of 6cm (for 43 days) to 7 (for 3 nights) to 8 (for 2 night). Still troubled sleep. My waking hours are filled with lack of energy, sadness. Just learning the Sleepyhead Glossary of...

Re: High Anxiety- Adjusting to CPAP Life

What leads you to think the doctor is aware? I don't see evidence of that. This below leads me to believe the doctor is on board since this is what Janine said today.. The doctor finally called back and informed me the after reviewing my SD card data it appears I need to move the "pressure" from th...

Re: High Anxiety- Adjusting to CPAP Life

That sounds very low compared to your charts. Pugsy? I haven't seen her reports so I don't know but maybe they are wanting to go up slowly and see how things respond. Just because someone might end up needing a much higher minimum doesn't mean that they have to get there in one jump in a single nig...

Re: High Anxiety- Adjusting to CPAP Life

That sounds very low compared to your charts. Pugsy? I'm not Pugsy, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night. Seriously, that modification (6 starting pressure to 7) is outrageous and moronic. After another month he will probably say take it from 7 to 8, and then 8 to 9, and so on. So you...

Re: Did my own Pulse Oxygen test

Ok, You have to go into control panel and click show hidden files. then you will see the app data. I then had to move the file out of the folder to get it to show up on my mac side. Now what do I do with the data. I imported it. and it gave me a summary. But its not graphed or i also don't understa...

Re: Your feedback is appreciated on my SH data

I would be a little more cautious about the pressure increase. Your 90% number is less than 10 cm H2O. The average pressure is less than 7.5 cm H2O. A gradual approach would be to increase the EPAP to 7 cm H2O and wait for a few days to see what happens. Then, if there is progress and no significan...

Re: Your feedback is appreciated on my SH data

I'm about 19 days in now, and feeling much better. I'm comfortable with the mask and sleeping better than I have in a long time. Not sleeping great, but better. I think I could make some improvements though and I've attached some screenshots from SH in hopes that you can guide me in the right direc...

Seconded on the padacheek liners. I used to have leak issues with my Quattro but liners from padacheek did away with them. I am a side sleeper too.

Re: Mouth taping

Isn't taping your mouth dangerous? I'm a mouth breather and have tried the chin strap but my left nostril which has a deviated septum(sp?) stops up every night and I usually wake up with a very dry mouth. I've tried FF masks but my mouth still opens while wearing a FF mask and when I wake up in the...

Re: format for sleep studies on CD?

So how exactly would I word my request? I just call the doc's office and ask the girl that keeps the records. No need to bother the doc. The "girl" that keeps the records has probably never encountered *anyone* who has wanted their raw data. That was definitely the case when I asked for mine. It to...

Re: format for sleep studies on CD?

Ask if their software has a "Physician Reader" option. What does that mean? Is that a format they can save it in? If not, then you'll probably need to get a generic *.edf reader (and they will need to save the data file as an *.edf). I wasn't going to try to look at it, as I won't understand it. I ...

Re: Can an Oximeter replace CPAP?

So with this added information above, can I pose the question again, is the concept of having an oximeter with an alarm set at a high level aid replace the need for the CPAP. There is going to be a time lag between the start of the apnea and the oximeter alarm. If that time lag is in the neighborho...

Re: Got my vitamin D3 test results. Any comments appreciated.

I had a 29 and then started taking 15000 per day (3 gelcaps of 5000 each) for about 7 weeks and then retested and was at 84. My doctor raised his eyebrow pretty high when I told him how much I was taking and what range I was shooting for and why. His eyebrow went running up to the top of his forehea...

Re: OT? NYT: Sleep therapy seen as aid for treating depression

As someone who was formally diagnosed with severe depression long before I was ever put on CPAP, what you are claiming is bs. I never felt better, in anyway shape or form when my sleep quality deteriorated. In fact, deterioration of sleep quality, insomnia and such is one of the main things psychia...
