Re: New to CPAP
Agree! I have been on mine for 9 days and getting used to the mask has been a bit of a challenge. There is a lot of really good information on this site and the folks here are amazing to say the least. Just keep reading and things will get better. I am keeping a positive mental attitude and will mak...

Re: Just diagnosed with OSA
UPDATE: First night with S9 and things went very well. AHI was .19. Down from original untreated AHI of 57.8. No leaks to speak of, no dry mouth or nose, only woke up twice. The Swift FX worked like a charm. No soreness on the nose to speak of. Wife said snoring was pretty much non existent. Viewed ...

Re: Just diagnosed with OSA
OK, everyone! I just returned from the DME and it went much better than I expected. My pressure is set at 9cm. They told me that I could get the Elite or the Autoset but they were going to charge me $355 for upgrading to the Autoset. I know I read somewhere on here the "upcharge" is bogus but after ...

Re: Picking up my first machine on friday !!!
TLB, I am new here also and pick my machine up tomorrow from the good ol' DME. I have read, read and re-read most of the posts here and hopefully I have educated myself enough to go in there tomorrow and make a smooth transaction. These folks here are good people and have already helped me squash mo...

Re: Just diagnosed with OSA
OK, two days to go before I go to the DME. I am going to try to get the S9 AutoSet as I have said before. I have heard people talk about getting my doctor to write a specific perscription. Silly question here but which doctor are you all referring too? My general practioner who originally referred m...

Re: Compliance and data access confusion
To see all the data recorded by your machine you will need software. Either ResScan or SleepyHead will work. Both are free to download. SleepyHead may be a bit more patient-friendly in the install process: It is no more difficult to install than any other piece of downloaded software. Again, if you...

Re: Introduction, Boyce
Welcome Boyce. I am new here also and just finished my second study. Going in next Wednesday to get results and a machine. I see you are in Atlanta. I don't know who you are using for the sleep study but the folks I used got me in and out quickly thru entire process. I did first sleep study on May 2...

Re: Just diagnosed with OSA
Thanks. I will try to get the S9 Autoset but if that does not work out, I will get the S9 Elite. I already have the Hi5 so I can save a little money either way. At this point, I just want to be able to see the date. Hopefully the "auto" function will be something of a want, more than a need... We wi...

Re: Just diagnosed with OSA
sleeping on my side every night would seem to be a bit of a chore, coupled with the fact that doing so would probably cause me a bit of strain over a period of time. Why? You can change sides during the night. There is also a website where a doctor shows a great method to sleep on stomach. That giv...

Re: Just diagnosed with OSA
ok folks! I just spoke with BCBS and the rep told me that they dont get involved with which CPAP an insured gets. They pay based on the code E0601. (which that handy link I was referred to referenced) She stated it is up to the DME to give me the machine I want. They are going to pay based on that c...

Re: Just diagnosed with OSA
If someone's non-supine AHI is <5, and assuming that is true for all nights and not just the night of titration, why would they need to do any CPAP whatsoever? Why just not sleep non-supine? That is a pretty big assumption and even if I did assume this, sleeping on my side every night would seem to...

Re: Just diagnosed with OSA
Again everyone, thank you all so much! I will call BCBS tomorrow to see what they will allow on my plan. I hope I don't tip my hand before I need too.

Re: Just diagnosed with OSA
Thanks everyone for the great information. So the S8 that I have does not record any data? My father told me that all I have to do is send the "card" to them or take it in to have the machine analyzed. Does that make sense to anyone? I am a bit anxious about all of this. I just want to make sure I d...
