Re: S9 AutoSet with Humidifier goes into Cooling mode.
Thank you, everyone, for your replies. They were very helpful. I tested it last night by not pushing the control knob to begin warming, and then I felt the plate under the reservoir in the middle of the night. It was warm. I guess my sinuses are just sensitive. The ENT doctor says I have "CPAP Rhini...

Re: S9 AutoSet with Humidifier goes into Cooling mode.
Thank you for the information. I will follow up on that. It sure seems dry if don't hold the round button down until it says, "Warming up", again.

Re: S9 AutoSet with Humidifier goes into Cooling mode.
Yes, I think the machine thinks I have lost the pillows, and it starts cooling and shuts down. Is there way to delay that, so it doesn't start cooling and shutdown if it isn't in use for something like five minutes? Or could it be set to automatically start warming once you put the mask or pillows b...

S9 AutoSet with Humidifier goes into Cooling mode.
Hello everyone. I put my ResMed S9 AutoSet into Warming mode before I go to bed at night. If I remove the nasal pillow for any reason during the night, the machine automatically goes into cooling mode. Does anyone know whether there is a way to keep the machine in Warming mode? I wish it would defau...

Re: New with two weeks on CPAC
I just read on another thread that we can look in the event tab and see how long events are lasting. I just looked and see numbers and am wondering what these numbers mean? These are CA numbers and do they seem like normal numbers to see, I mean if you have CA events? Also click on an event in that...

Re: New with two weeks on CPAC
Based on my numbers, it is fairly long, but I have had events of 35 s in recent nights. Many are much shorter. The key for me would be to see if you can find out whether there is a relationship between the breathing events and the arrhythmias. That would be another thing worth reporting to his doc....

Re: New with two weeks on CPAC
Any event has to last at least 10 seconds to be flagged...9 seconds and it doesn't get flagged. From what I have seen from other people and myself..23 seconds is not unusual at all. Hold your breath for 23 seconds. It is easily done. Once in a while it likely won't cause distress and is really easy...

Re: New with two weeks on CPAC
CA means Clear Airway...open airway cessation of breathing..in other words...central. When SleepyHead was first developed it was for Respironics machines which uses the terminology...clear airway event..instead of central. They preferred to call them clear airway...ResMed is comfortable calling the...

Re: New with two weeks on CPAC
Thank you Pugsy. I read this and then Steve read this. We are on a big learning curve but your words are very understandable. We now are taking the Centrals much more seriously and thank you for taking the time to write this down for us. I will read again in the morning and see what the readings are...

Re: New with two weeks on CPAC
http://i1060.photobucket.com/albums/t453/windsurfing_steve/june172.jpg I think I did everything you asked. On a major learning curve here. Yes, we have understood that the OSA numbers indicate a mild problem. Again, he is experiencing heart arrhythmia from even a mild OSA. But then of course we may...

Re: New with two weeks on CPAC
If someone is having centrals because of the pressure (and we can't explain them away as awake events or something) then using APAP with a wide range may not be the best way to go. Instead APAP with narrow range or cpap might be better. I don't think increasing minimum to 7 would really hurt anythi...

Re: New with two weeks on CPAC
If you get any flack from the doctors, ask them about diabetics, if they suggest that diabetics not test their insulin levels. They test and adjust their insulin levels all the time. You can kill people with insulin, you can't kill people with air, you can however damage people if their settings ar...

Re: New with two weeks on CPAC
Thank you BlackSpinner. We were able find directions easily and got into the settings, but were uncertain how much to change. We will try the bottom number at 7 as you suggest and see how he does. This is exciting and thank you so much for the help.
