Dry nose HELP! heated tube / classic humidifier not working!
Been having a real hard time with my System One bipap. Heated tube never manages to put out enough moisture for me, and either the dryness, airflow itself, or heat dries out nose so bad that it causes severe dripping, itching, watery eyes (like a histamine reaction) during the day. It makes me so mi...

Re: Voice change & OSA, CPAP, and MMA Surgery
What evidence do you have for such statements about *MMA* surgery. I've heard the things you mentioned about the UPPP surgery, but not MMA. My numbers do not reflect how I feel or the sleep disturbance I deal with. With or without CPAP I sleep only on average 5 hours a night...far too little for my ...

Re: Voice change & OSA, CPAP, and MMA Surgery
Yes, I know this, I understand....but given the comments I've received in the past, I feel mine is especially incongruent with who I am, and it is not serving me well (and makes me very self conscious about talking sometimes).

Voice change & OSA, CPAP, and MMA Surgery
Hi, So I have a question about the tone of my voice. I hate it. I"ve never liked it, ever since I was a kid and heard myself on recordings. And I don't like it to this day. I had a mild speech impediment when I was a kid, 1st and 2nd grade, I went to speech therapy once a week for my "S", I had a mi...

ResMed ClimateLine getting too hot? Insulation?
Hi, I had a old SystemOne with the heated tubing that still generated rainout so my doctor said to put the Resmed blue insulation covering over the heated tube AND a snuggie, and that helped. But I got a new S9 with the climateline and i find that i just cant seem to get the heated tube settings rig...

Switching to ResMed S9 from System One–what should I know?
Hi all, I went to stanford sleep center and after my SD card reader broke in my 2 year old System One device, I am getting a new machine and I asked to try the ResMed S9. I'm wondering what I should expect in the changeover. I've had quite a tough time getting the System One to work effectively–most...

Re: High Respiration Rate -- Still feeling bad with Low AHI?
Pugsy: Thank you for your reply. The sleep event graphs were fairly standard, nothing particularly significant in relation to the RR movements I could tell. I was more thinking about in 'real life', what a high nightime RR might correllate to. Like, decreased exercise endurance, or asthma, or nasal ...

wow, well looks like one of the other symptoms of bradypnea is sleep apnea and high blood pressure so seems like he was just blowing you off with the 'dont worry about it!". very interesting though.

Re: High Respiration Rate -- Still feeling bad with Low AHI?
Pugsy I guess what i'm trying to undersatnd is the normal "range" of RR. WHen I see 20-25 I think, wow, i'm breathing faster than once every 3 seconds. That's pretty much in hyperventiolation mode (at least daytime) in my book. If i'm doing that 6 hours a night, what does that mean? Does anything co...

High Respiration Rate -- Still feeling bad with Low AHI?
Hi, I just started using sleepyhead with my system one pr1 APAP. I'm doing a lot better compared to when I started 18 months ago, but each night is still "an adventure" and I never quite know what i'm in for the next day. I recently noticed the graphs now available showing RERA (respiration rate) an...

Re: Nasal pillows, allergies, taping, and LEAKS! (graphs)
DOH! My fault! Sorry for assumption, for some reason I just assumed...i guess i think of sleep apnea as mostly (statistically) speaking a male issue...but i know that's not true! Pugsy accept my apologies.

Nasal pillows, allergies, taping, and LEAKS! (graphs)
Hi, Thanks to everyone on this forum who has helped me in the past, especially Pugsy and his helpful remarks on my charts. A host of things are preventing me from fully responding to CPAP therapy. I went to a good allergist, and she says her patients always seem to do better (and at lower pressure r...

Re: Going dry before end of night, what to lower first?
Well odd thing is that this has been happening with leaks totally controlled now with my Swift FX (i posted a while back on here and you gave some very helpful responses), and at a lower pressure. Full face mask is like low 40s leaks. When I use nasal pillows, I do get a bit more leaking due to open...

Going dry before end of night, what to lower first?
Hi , I have a system one with humidifier and heated tube. The heated tube really helped when we added it in the winter to increase humidity levels, make it more comfortable, and allow lower pressures. My nasal pasaages didnt stuff up and generate mouth breathign and leaks. Now however in may, I find...
