Re: sore nostrils.....
I had some trouble adjusting to this mask initially .. made me sore too. I liked everything else about the mask so I did a little reading on here. As others have suggested, I found using the largest pillows that worked to be good advice. I have a somewhat large head (hat size 7 5/8) and found I had ...

DME and Compliance Data
I just upgraded my machine from a ResMed S8 Elite to a ResMed Airsense A10 Elite. In the process I "fired" my old DME (It was FUN! They offered me NO choice on the new machine .. I took what they offered or nothing. I walked out the door and shook the dust off my feet.). New DME was a joy to deal wi...

Re: Nuvigil and Provigil NOT working What next??
Out of curiosity, what happened on your multi latency sleep test? I've been battling excessive daytime sleepiness for some time now. Had a complete physical from the family doc. She referred me to an endocrinologist for a peak at suspect thyroid and testosterone test results. All was made well there...

[quote="lazer"]I will follow this discussion and poll for the next full month and you the voter(s) will determine the final decision. Haha! I've created my first pole here! (*insert sarcasm*) I'm wondering how you did it. Looks like what we call a german cockroach I swatted my monitor the first coup...

Re: anybody have both apnea and narcolepsy?
This has been an interesting thread for me. I've been on CPAP for 6+ years .. the apnea episodes with CPAP are statistically insignificant .. I'm very compliant with CPAP .. but have a lot of daytime sleepiness. What makes teh daytime sleepiness intersing is I'm prescribed 250 mg of nuvigil. I can t...

Re: Mask Collectors
Shameless mask collector here. Most aren't through my DME/insurance though. My local Apria branch (my insurance's "preferred" DME, bleh) would like a new Rx signed in my doctor's blood whenever I'd like to try ANYTHING new. I mean, quite literally: they would not let me try a nasal mask at first be...

I'm not a doctor and I don't play one on tv .. ut here are a few thoughts from the gentleman sitting in seat 714 row 5280 in the cheap seats of life. Apologies if these subjects have already been beaten to death in your life. I can't say i know exactly what you're going through. That said, I have be...

Re: Mask Collectors
The DME I use is very good and has no problem with it. Whenever the insurance allows it, they'll ship me whatever I want. They've even ordered ones they didn't have or don't normally carry. I would say in terms of DME, probably luckier than most! So do you often order something different or have yo...

A big +1 for teh Swift FX although I couldn't help but notice the ladies seem to have more options with their Swift FXs .. some kinda prima donna bella headgear .. probably in exciting colors. On a side note, I've seen advice in this thread and others about used masks. I see them on Craigslist all t...

Mask Collectors
I'm sure this subject has been beaten to death but as a fairly new member of the forum who did a quick search ... How many mask collectors are out there? My insurance pays for a new one eevry 3 months. I can make the mask itself last a long time. Sooooo .. usually when I order I get somethign differ...

I am a fellow face smoosher At one time a charter member of the Sleepless knights For hose management I prefer a hair scrungee (I probably spelled that wrong) and a push pin. It's VERY adjustable and travels well. +1 for the Swift FX or my fallback mask/rubber starfish - the Resmed Activa Have some ...

Re: usefullness of CPAP Machine Data
Many thanks to those of you who have replied so far . I'm now convinced that the data would be useful in my own case. I'm dealing with excessive daytime sleepiness. Started with my family doc with an exhaustive physical. referred to Endocrinologist for optimizing thyroid and hormones. i see the slee...

usefullness of CPAP Machine Data
A question for those of you who use software to read the smart/data card from you xPAP machine .... How useful is the information you get from the software? Does it genuinely help with fine tuning your therapy ... answering questions .. or do you do it more out of an interest as to what's going on? ...

Re: Sleepiness and Reading a Computer Screen
One thing that might be helpful is to enlarge the text that you are reading. A slightly larger font can be less fatiguing. Great suggestion chunkyfrog ! I'm going to give it a try. I'm dealing with excessive daytime sleepiness. It seems worse on the days I work. As a software developer, I spend a l...
