Well, got the machine going again and made it through 2.5 hours of "sleep". Since I'm off a regular sleep schedule and napping a lot, I figured well at least I'll just lay here and get the benefits of the humidity and if I fall asleep great. I must have dozed off some. I can't believe the difference...

thanks for the bump DS!
I definitely am planning a call to the sleep center once I'm fully healed up. It would stand to reason that with the topography of the throat rearranged, pressure would have to be adjusted.

resuming Cpap after tonsillectomy
Has anyone had the experience of how to resume CPAP post-tonsillectomy? I'm 6 days post-op, done because the tonsils were so bad it was a medical necessity (not to avoid Cpap). The recovery room nurse said to go right back on the mask but the first night home I was sick as anything and didn't sleep....

6 months on cpap - but no reserves!
I had to pick up a family member coming in on a midnight flight, which was delayed, and then drop traveler off, and didn't get to bed until after 2:00AM. Had horrible stuffy nose (1st time since Cpap) and could only tolerate the mask two hours, then had to get up at 6:30. I was shocked at how exhaus...

I think the original idea behind the thyroid script was "her TSH is on the high side of normal, she's displaying symptoms, let's try this." There was no thyroid panel done and no referral to a specialist. No one thought of apnea. It did help for a while. Now I'm wondering if the thyroid ever had a p...

thank you for telling about your experience. Sounds like your apnea is pretty severe. Even with my diagnosis of 'mild' it has made a world of difference to be on Cpap. I am at a good level on the tyroid med now but it still isn't as much as before I started cpap in May. I'm not sure how to tell the ...

My husband also has apnea symptoms and agreed to try the machine, but I don't have auto pap and I was afraid I'd kill him with the wrong pressure setting. Mine is only 6 -8 and I have no idea what his would be! He won't doctor for apnea because he says he doesn't want to know. Men. I'm really happy ...

Long question - hypothyroid vs. apnea?
Before being sent for a sleep study and diagnosed with mild apnea, I spent at least three years doctoring, trying to find out why I was so exhausted all the time, and why I was suddenly unable to formulate a sentence. I had such serious brain fog, I thought I had a brain tumor or early onset Alzheim...

My sleep tech postulated that if you were used to getting 8 hours of lousy sleep, and are suddenly getting 4 hours of excellent sleep, that your body is saying OK, time to get up! She said it would taper off and I've found that now after 5 months on the cPap, I can sleep 7 full hours. However, I can...

How about some self-hypnosis as you are falling asleep? Like a relaxing, repetitive suggestion, spoken aloud, telling yourself that you will sense yourself taking off the mask, and stop, you need the rest, etc. Whatever sounds right to you, Can't hurt, and it might work.... Plus the socks. PS I do t...

I started with the Resmed Escape, but didn't like it, and got the Elite for the EPR feature. I didn't get the software, I just check the efficacy data on the clinical menu every day. Dr. authorized access to the clinical menu so I could adjust my CPAP pressure myself. He wouldn't prescribe an auto t...

higher AHI as night progresses?
Hi, I've been tracking my stats as my machine offers this feature. AHI is ranging between 1.8 and 5. I am assuming the daily stats are an average for the hours slept that night. Some nights I still end up with the mask off and don't rouse myself to re-apply it to my face. Here's my question: The les...

congrats on getting on Cpap, I started 5/1 and can report it has really helped my quality of life. That said, the irony of the first two weeks is that they were the worst nights sleep I'd ever had! With the apnea, I thought I was sleeping, but during the adjustment period I knew I wasn't. Very tired...

I've got the same machine and I've been tracking my ##'s too, I'm only 80 days into this but I'm looking for lowest possible no.'s on the AHI and AI, HI is maybe not as important? I've been changing my masks, setting pressure in small increments, and generally trying to find out what works! Anyways,...
